Chapter 1
I paced up and down Farthen durs dungeon tunnels; they are dark and stingy like the hide of an urgal. Saphira was out hunting, I had asked her to stay within mind boundaries so if need be I could call her at any second. A few days ago Saphira and me had captured Murtagh and his dragon Thorn. Thorn was kept in chains guarded by The Vardens best magicians and warriors, every now and then he gives off a loud roar and tries to breathe fire but the mages are quick to counter and put him to sleep. Murtagh on the other hand isn't that easy to keep quiet he keeps trying to use spells to break free recently he tried using 'brisingr' that means fire in the ancient language, well he wont be trying that again, before the words had even left his lips his hand set on fire and now it is all black and shrivelled. The Varden took away all his weapons and tried to give me the so-called 'honour' of killing him, I refused. He might be an enemy but there is good in his heart somewhere I can feel it.
Chapter 2I went inside his holding cell and asked him to join Saphira and me against Galbatorix, he replied with a simple no. I doubt in my mind that Murtagh knows the full extent of Galbatorix's power against the Varden and all of Alagaesia, he might come round in due time. 'Saphira I need you to come back now' I had only just called out when there was a swift, sharp blast of wind as she landed, 'what is wrong little one' she asked 'its Murtagh' I replied 'he wont join us, but he's afraid of something'. Later that day I went out training with my sword Brisingr, whenever I say brisingr in battle my sword sets alight with blue flames. 'Eragon, I need to speak with you'. I instantly knew it was Murtagh, I picked up Brisingr and headed straight down, on my way I called Saphira who was out hunting at the time and told her not to worry if she got back and I wasn't there. For some reason the guards were reluctant to let me in but eventually they came to ease, I walked in, Murtagh was stood there without any restraint, then without warning he struck out I fell to the ground, the rest is just a blur.
Chapter 3I woke what seemed like several hours later but in fact it was several weeks I looked around, all around me there was hospital beds filled with people to my left was Orik Farthen durs Grimstborith (clan leader), to my right was Arya the most beautiful elven warrior I had ever seen. I arose from my bed, Nasuada told me to stay led down, I replied with a grunt then she said I'm sorry but Saphira is missing, she felt she could go up against thorn and Murtagh herself could you try to call her? I tried but at first there was no response, then a mighty roar erupted and I saw what looked like Saphira outside, I dashed outside to see what it was, sure enough it was Saphira but she had nearly doubled in size. 'what have you done' I asked, she replied 'I have consumed Glaedrs Eldunari, it has made me stronger than that runt thorn'.
