Stars.

Usually, I don't ask much of you, like so much fish that I could gorge myself for days. Or maybe uninterrupted sleep for 2 nights. But those are okay because then I get to see you.

But now I need something else. Momma hasn't been back since the trees have shed, and I miss her. She told the best stories; Stories about Ancient cities, Gods coming down to earth, and even fables about humans. Her best ones were about us; "Our race were the guardians of the world, its protectors," she told me. "Everything under the stars in the sky we must keep safe. It's our way."

So I try. I don't eat living creatures, (except fish but I don't think that counts), I'd never hurt anything knowingly, and I even treat humans alright.

Maybe I'm preaching to the choir, but, here goes. I like to ask you for something. Momma was my protector, wasn't she? Maybe I could be someone's guardian. It would be better than waiting here. Stars, if you can, help me find someone, who that I could protect and protect me from humans, even if it was one.

As if on cue, my stomach started rumbling. I jump outside of my tree and began hunting for food.

"Ah! The Phantom! I-I found the Phantom!"
