A/N: Okay, I haven't written/posted anything worth reading on Fanfic for ages; I'm a bit rusty, so please bare with me, okay?
The cool breeze of the night forced the waves to the edges of the shore of the small island. Above were the dim stars and flaming colors of twilight. I stepped onto the sand and ran towards the trees.
"You're late."
Itachi had his feet on the small round table and had his purple painted fingers around a cup of tea. He didn't even glance up at me; it was as if I wasn't there.
"A 'Hi Reimei' would've been nice."
He didn't even flinch. Itachi took a sip from his cup.
"You jerkā¦" I muttered to myself. "Where are the others?"
"Getting food. They got tired of waiting for you. Why are you so late?" He withdrew his feet from the table and stood up. Itachi put his cup down and faced me.
"Taking care of business." I don't like to look into his eyes. They're so cold. I took the jug that I carried with me everywhere. I took his cup, dumped the tea that was left, and filled it with the jug.
"I was drinking that."
"And now I'm drinking this," I take a sip.
A whoosh behind us. The foliage rustled and Deidara appeared in the small cave.
"She's here? About time, mmm."
Deidara. I always wondered what he looked like when he had his arms and eye. He's the one I find most interesting, actually. He also has an odd language defect. He's always mumbling something like un, or mmm, I'm not sure.
"Hello Deidara."
He gave me a sideways glance and then focused on Itachi. I take a sip from the cup.
"You have to hurry, Reimei, dark's approaching soon. Will you make it before sunrise?"
Itachi asks.
"Maybe. The Sand village is hot day or night, so what does it really matter?"
"Better at night, un. Make sure you're able to carry the coins back, mmm."
I sigh. "If you wanted me to save time, why didn't I just go straight to the sand?"
"We needed to see if you were still alive. Waiting for you is hard enough, but waiting for someone who no longer exist is just a pure waste of time."
How positively annoying he was. I take another sip.
"Go." He says. I drink some more. Itachi grabbed the cup from my hand and drank it himself. He suddenly realized what it was and gagged.
"Haha. I can't believe you of all people don't like the taste of that." I turn towards the enterance and slowly made my way towards the shore. The ocean water cooled my feet. I stared at my reflection in the water. A extremely pale face, violet eyes. My blue hair ruffled by the breeze that left the white flower in my hair unaffected. A wave came and destroyed this image. I look up to the sky and see stars. I've got to hurry.
"Sand Village, here I come."
And this is how things started getting interesting.
A/N: Yess yess, I know it starts off weird/short. Don't worry, things WILL get better soon.
