"The Talk"

"Neji. We have to talk."

Oh crap. The rosette colored haired kunoichi had just spoken the most dreaded words any man could possibly face. His eyes widened noticeably, but he regained his composure before he turned to face her again.

Her expression became very serious in comparison to the bright smile she had before, and she even seemed pained at what she had to tell him.

"We have to- No we need to stop doing this."

Stop doing what? Going out? Why would they need to break up their relationship? They had not encountered any problems and hadn't fought once. Unless they count their constant toying as fighting but he didn't think that she would get so defensive about messing around with her, when that had been what had drawn them closer and made things easier for them.

And as far as he was concerned, the Uchiha idiot had not come back, Naruto had moved on to Hinata, Lee was currently dating TenTen, Kiba had stopped pestering her, and her one-eyed sensei and the current Hokage had finally accepted the fact that they were in a relationship.

"Honestly, things can't keep going on like this."

What things? If only she would stop being so damn vague he wouldn't have this retched feeling. No, he was a Hyuuga. He will not be so easily fooled by such words. He will not be controlled by emotions and he will not make a fool of himself.

"Every time it becomes more painful and I feel completely drained. I can't even work well in the hospital."

The sex. It had to be the sex. So maybe their relationship wasn't completely over. Maybe they just needed a small break in that department but it would be worth it as long as they were together and could maintain a stable relationship.

Wait.

Since when had it been his fault that she made him put his work aside countless times all because of her raging hormones? Not once. So why exactly was he being blamed?

Now and then he caught words of what she was saying, nodding from time to time, but his main focus was on the past.

He should have listened to his uncle. Hiashi-sama had been right the first time. The best option would have been to court a normal girl from a noble clan. But he had refused to listen and chose Sakura because he thought she went against everything his uncle had ever said.

His uncle emphasized that the most beautiful things were often the simplest. But Sakura turned to be the most conflicting character he had ever met.

Her ideas were simple as well as her values, but the way in which she followed them turned out to be quite complicated as it all seemed to "depend" on whatever situation she was presented. Her striking bubble gum tresses and light emerald eyes were far from simple. But it was because of those features that she never used make up or any other cosmetic products to enhance her appearance and that itself gave her a simple look. She appeared to be strong and determined with her firm gaze, yet her smile proved that she was gentle and caring. A feat that is not easily achieved by many.

And her feelings. She was so receptive to all the small things that happened around her that her expressions often change drastically from one moment to the next.

It could have been taken as a sign of rebellion, but after Sakura had finally earned Hiashi-sama's respect, he accepted her with open arms and even grew accustomed to the girl and her peculiar traits.

She cleared her throat, the sound brought him back to the real world, and he wondered if she noticed that he had temporarily zoned out.

"We have to stop giving each other this damn cold."

Oh.

For once in his life he could not be any happier that he was a quiet person who usually kept his thoughts to himself, because in one simple sentence he could have lost the one thing he valued the most.
