Before Death Comes – Chapter 1: Mysteries
"Why is life worth living?"
"W-w-what? I-I d-don't know! Please don't h-hurt me!"
"You would've been better off lying to me."
"P-please! I don't want to die!"
"Then you should never have been born."
The torment of the man is no more. His last breathe was wasted with screams of terror. The wind carries the man's message to others as a warning to those who do not know the answer.
Well, maybe it was just the wind.

"Come on! If we don't hurry, we'll miss the ship!" exclaimed Drifter. He sprinted full speed to the docks, fully exhausted but promising himself days of rest if he could make it to the "Vendetta", the Ship bound for Calimport.
"There it is! Just a little bit more!" Silent, the raven hair boy of 17 winters sprinted ahead of his partner-in-crime and jumped aboard the Vendetta. A thudded noise behind him told him that Silent had come aboard as well.
The two boys turned around in time to see Baldur's Gate's militia standing on the docks and cursing them while gasping, desperate to catch their breathe. The city's Guard Captain, Shank by name, tried futilely to throw his sword at the ships direction in a desperate attempt to get the thieves.
"See? Told you we'd make it!" Silent was now sitting on the wall of the ship. This was a merchant ship. There were so many people here that people rarely stop to ask questions to newcomers. He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the blood from twelve-inch dagger. Small as it was, it could cut through steel light butter.
"Never doubted you for a minute. How long to Calimport?" Drifter was weighing the Sapphire Jewel in his right hand and the Ruby one on his left, measuring its price and value.
"A few weeks time. Then it's a few more weeks across the Desert of Calimshan. After that, the real fun begins. To Vlad's cave." Silent took out the Emerald Jewel from his pocket and shined it in the suns light. These were priceless, one of a kind Jewels that they took. The punishment of failure did not outweigh the reward, however. It wasn't easy to escape the Sorcerer's Tower in Baldur's Gate, but they had succeeded.
The Legend of Vlad the Black Dragon had reached the ears of many, particularly two adventurers searching for fame and fortune. Calimport, the city in the middle of a desert holds many secrets, but one secret eluded many except those who truly seek adventure. And so to Vlad's domain two adventurers go. Does the reward outweigh the price of failure? We shall see.

This story starts out confusing, yes, but it'll get real good, take my word for it. This story takes place in Faerun, but does not follow any particular books. It does involve all the characters, Drizzt and Entreri mostly. Its my own story, and I'm just borrowing the characters. All Questions will be answered. Just check back. I'm sure you'll like it.
