Jessie sat in front of the snow globe. She had wrapped a washcloth around her head. A plastic medallion hung around her neck (It was shiny gold with a plastic blue jewel in the middle) and she wore a doll's bathrobe that was too large for her. She had to keep pushing back her sleeves.
On the other side of the globe sat Buzz. He didn't believe in psychics, but it was nice to be near Jessie.
"Ok," she instructed. "Let me see your palm."
"My palm?" Jessie didn't wait for him to give it to her. She grabbed his hand and held it in front of her face. Buzz blushed a deep red; he had never held hands with a girl before.
"Let me see…" Jessie studied it. "Ah, yes…I see…"
"What?"
"You're a very loyal friend, honest and kind. I sense you've been through some changes within the last year."
"Uh," Buzz said nervously. "It doesn't tell you what kind of changes, does it?" He hadn't told Jessie about his past yet.
Jessie continued, "I see you are a gifted athlete, intelligent and sensitive, yet somewhat naïve."
"Am I?" Jessie let him take his hand back. She knew she wasn't psychic. When it came to Buzz Lightyear, all she needed was the power of observation.
"Ok, let's take a look at your future!" She picked up the snow globe and shook it, then set it back down and took a peek inside. "Hmm. Very interesting, Young Padawan…"
"What?" Buzz looked inside too, but all he could see was a little snowman in a top hat standing in front of a plastic igloo.
"Why Buzz Lightyear," she teased with a big grin. "Someone's got a crush on ya!"
Buzz turned red again. "On me?"
"That's right," she looked into the globe again. "Someone likes you! They think you're cute!"
"Who?" Buzz had forgotten he didn't believe in psychics. "Who is it?"
Jessie squinted. "It's hard to tell…Kind of fuzzy…Wait, she's coming into focus…"
"Who?" Buzz wiggled excitedly. "Who is it?"
"It's…it's…"
"Yes?"
"It's…" Jessie paused, taking a look at Buzz's eager face.
"Who? Who?"
"ME!" She shouted. She jumped over the snow globe, knocking it to the ground and tackling Buzz. After planting a few dozen kisses all over his face, she let him back up. She giggled as Buzz walked away on wobbly legs. "Thank you, come again!"
Buzz tottered over to Woody and leaned against the bed. Woody put down the doodle pad he had been writing on. "What happened to you?"
"Jesth told ma fortoon…" He garbled. Woody looked annoyed.
"Is she playing psychic again? She didn't charge you did she? Because I talked to her about that…"
Buzz had shaken off his brain fuzzies. "Are you kidding?" He exclaimed. "I'm getting mine told again!" Woody rolled his eyes and shook his head as Buzz ran back to the globe.
Jessie was humming as she shuffled cards and placed them in front of her. "Let's see: Charizard, Geodude, Venonat…"
Buzz slowed his run to a walk as he approached the snow globe. "Uh, Jess?"
"Uh huh?" She looked up and smiled.
Buzz rubbed the back of his head. "Ah…I was wondering if…you saw anything else in my future…"
"Well let me take a looksey…" Jessie shook up the globe again as he sat down. "As a matter of fact I do!"
"Really?"
"I see you tonight, sitting on the couch cuddling with an attractive redhead while watching a movie…"
Later that night:
Jessie rested against Buzz as they watched the screen: "Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force…"
Buzz played with Jessie's braid as he kept his arm around her shoulders. He sensed a bright future…
