After escaping the cheering and wolf-whistling in the common room; they stood outside, decidedly ignoring the sounds the fat lady made as she scrambled off to be the first to report the gossip.
So there they stood, each giving sly looks and awkwardly opening and closing their mouths in unvoiced suggestions.
Finally Ginny had had enough of the awkward silence.
"So do you plan on talking at all?" In reply she got back silence.
"Say absolutely anything,' when the reply did not come, her tone turned deadly with a hint of desperation 'or I'm going inside." When she heard nothing, she turned around with her heart as heavy as stone.
"Wait,' feeling like a large balloon had begun swelling inside her heart, she turned to face the red-faced awkwardly perched Harry.
"Would you like a chocolate frog?" Without so much as a second thought she began giggling like a mad pig. However, when she had finally calmed down she smiled at him sweetly, accepting the chocolate frog and standing by his side.
After a few moments of a calm quiet; she felt Harry's hand around her own. She smiled to herself, and then he gestured for the stairs.
"You know what; I think you're a bit of a sadist."
"What makes you say that?"
"You laughed at my-"
"Complete awkwardness?"
"Yes, I was nervous!"
"I guessed." At this point she was rather surprised to find that they were already at the doors. Pushing them open, the uncomfortable silence descended again. Once again the awkward staring commenced, only this time it was broken by the sudden outburst of laughter on both sides of the impending relationship.
"Chocolate frogs? Really I thought that "The Chosen One" would have a little suave."
"I do, well I assume I do."
"You know what? Why don't you let me be the judge of that?" From there it's was all a melody of hearty laughter and meaningless conversations on whimsical topics; because while in each other's company they felt less the victims of Tom Riddles evil and more like two teenagers(not necessarily magical.) When midnight had finally come, they made their way up the stairs. Once again they were hand in hand, but standing much closer, but still not having mentioned the match.
