One sun-bleached day
This is our summer, the sweetness of peaches is in the air and on our tongues as we laugh together on the pebble painted beach. We are alone for the day, just you and I it is utter bliss. The sun is so high and bright in the sky and the heat of it coats my body like a thin film. I look at you and see my own thoughts radiating from your own eyes and we laugh again are voice like wind chimes in the summer breeze. You grab my hand in your own rough warm one as we skip to the froth whipped sea. I jump straight away enjoying the glassy cool feel of the water on my burning skin, but you hold back slightly trembling like a puppy and I laugh again to see such a big strong man scared of a little bit of coldness. 'What are you waiting for Jake, cant you swim?'
You look at me then your warm brown eyes twinkling with mischief ' don't mess with me Ness, you know I'll win' and quick as a flash you are in the ocean beside me and gripping my waist with your muscled arm fling me up into the air like a kite. I scream as I fall splashing spluttering into the water and you catch me in your burning arms. I feel so safe in your embrace; it feels like home, we could just float in this sea forever, like a piece of wondering driftwood. We swim together under the sun for hours, our strength and agility allowing us to go deeper and further out where the sea is bottomless and dark and the shore is nothing but a pale half moon in the distance, it is just you and I beneath the shimmering sun and waves that glint like diamonds. We stay out there for hours.
When we finally return to land like sea- wary sailors, burnt and salty, the sun is lower in the sky and the sand coats are legs and feet like icing sugar. We are mellow-tired and content as we lay down in the warmth. You lean on your elbow and look at me, you tell me I look like a washed up mermaid and I flick sand at you playfully. You tell me I'm beautiful, that you love the way the sun reflects from my glowing white skin, I am illuminating, a goddess. I love how the sun seems to melt into your skin and become part of you. The huskiness, the timber and heat of you. You wrap your hands in my flaming hair and pull me close to your heart. Are kisses are all honey and cinnamon, our hands dance intricately across our bodies and we are left breathless and full with desire. We lay side by side in the blooming yellow light. You tell me you love me with the palm of your hand against the ivory flesh of my belly. I tell you I love you with the imprint of my lips on the tender, sweet hollow beneath your collarbone.
Come with me; come with me to the edge of the trees. Come watch the dyeing sun paint the world pink. Listen to the crashing of the waves and the birds singing their near-night time songs. This is peace, and beauty. This is our love Jake, this is us. The green tinged canopy and the sweet grassy smell of our forest. The deep blue sky and the little wooden houses of the reservation. This is our beginning. We and will laugh and dance together in the dappled light of dusk. We will sing with those birds and swim with the fishes. We will eat berries until our mouths are stained red, and we will laugh at the irony of it, a vegetarian half vampire dripping crimson. But it is so sweet Jake, so tender and lovely and it is all ours.
Twilight, and the world is velvet black. The pearled moon will bathe our gingerbread house with light, and the ground and soil beneath our feet will hum with night time creatures. The glass house by the river, filled with family and laughter. They will be there forever, watching over us. The day is over but we will have hours, years, and lifetimes together and this magic will never cease. We will fill our walls with memories and dreams of sugar-sweet days and ret hot nights. Love and trust is embedded so deep within our skin, we are bound and bonded forever. It is pure beauty just to be immortal with you
