The world is falling apart around them, after saving the world, the Gaang went their seperate ways in order to chase their own dreams. After Katara breaks up with Aang, will their hurt feelings keep the group from reuniting? Will things all change after a confession from Fire Lord Zuko?

Not much action in this first chapter, its just Katara & Aang's break up

Guilt And Breakups

"...Katara, whats wrong?" Said the slightly older avatar, his eyes full of worry "Are you okay?"

Katara let out a sigh, "Aang, theres no easy way to say this but I think that we should go our seperate ways"

"What? Why?" Tears stung the Aang's eyes, threatening to spill down his cheeks

"Aang, I just don't feel the spark with us, I love you Aang, but I loved you like a brother"

"So why did you kiss me then!" Aang shouted, he let the tears fall, he couldn't stop them, but they were no longer tears of sadness, they were tears of rage "Why did you even agree to go out with me?"

"Aang! calm down please!" Katara pleaded, now crying herself "This isn't easy for me either, but you're always off on avatar duties! We hardly see eachother"

"That can change! I can make more time"

"You know you can't Aang, you're the avatar, I'm so sorry"

The waterbender extended her arms for a hug, expecting the avatar to embrace her.

Instead, he turned away

"Goodbye Katara" He added furiously, before gliding off over the hills

Katara sat bolt upright in her bed, tears streaming from her eyes down her face. A loud sob ripped from her throat breaking the silence of night, she immediatly cupped her hands over her mouth, hoping she didn't wake her brother. She listened for a second, before her door opened, the light from the doorway cutting through the darkness of her room.

"Katara? Are you okay?" Sokka asked sleepily, "Having nightmares again?"

Katara couldn't open her mouth, in fear of letting out another sob, instead she just nodded.

"I'm not being funny sis, but if its troubling you so much, why did you break up with Aang?"

"I just didn't-"

Her sentence was interupted by a fit of sobs, her brother sat next to her, wrapping his muscular arms around her. She rested her head on his shoulder. He was no longer the idiotic older brother she once knew, he was man. After their father died of old age, Sokka had been tasked with keeping his little sister safe, he knew she didn't need protecting, she was a powerful bender and capable of looking after herself, now he knew what his father had really meant

be there to comfort her

Nobody could have predicted that their relationship would end, everyone adored their relationship, especially the younger girls. People would speak about how they had a fairytale ending, the avatar and the waterbender. They were always at eachothers side, except for when Aang would have to go to perform his avatar duties, in which Katara would lie around the house waiting for him to come back.

"I guess I just got bored of us" Katara finally said before she lay back down and curled up.
