Summary: They all thought he was crazy. He wasn't. But he was, however, a very good actor. A short drabble on Loki's inner thoughts. Takes place after The Avengers.
They all thought he was insane; some kind of rabid animal that suddenly appeared in their midst and they had no idea how to deal with him. This, of course, was untrue. If he was truly insane, truly unaware of his actions, then he would have no idea why he was doing the things he was doing.
He was almost painfully sober and his mind was as sharp as it ever was.
No, he wasn't insane. They were wrong. Oh so very wrong.
He had been questioned many times about why he had attacked Midgard. Why he betrayed his beloved family on Asgard. He wanted to tell them why...but he refrained and remained silent through their interrogation.
It was quite simple really. He hadn't had a choice in the matter.
Oh, his family would argue that he always had a choice to make in every situation. They'd be wrong on that account too.
The situation he'd been put in had been a no brainer really. In order to protect what mattered the most to him, everything he cherished, he'd had to give them up.
And because of his actions, they all thought he needed to be put down because he was some sort of...monster.
If they only knew what he would do for them...
Perhaps he should come clean to his family...tell them the truth, the reasoning, behind his actions.
No.
No, he couldn't. Not yet.
Thanos still had leverage over him. He still had people within Asgard's population that could strike at his family if he made a move.
No. He wouldn't do that to them.
He had to bide his time until the opportune moment.
And he was nothing if not patient...
Green eyes flashed with tightly controlled fury. When that time came, Thanos would regret the day he had backed Loki Odinson into a corner.
You know what they say about magic-users? Don't fuck with them.
A sharp, predatory smile curved up his red lips.
Oh yes. Thanos would regret forcing his hand.
For now though, he would sit in Asgard's jail and wait until his moment arrived. And if he knew Thanos like he thought, then the Titan would inevitably make a mistake. He thought that Loki was under his complete sway thanks to the altered Tesseract. Well, Loki was looking forward to the moment when he could prove Thanos wrong.
This came out of nowhere and it wouldn't leave me alone. I swear I should name the plot bunnies that keep nipping at my ankles Loki lol! Hope you all enjoyed the drabble.
