I hope you like this. My favorite series in the world might have to be Maximum Ride so I decided that I should write a fanfiction and see how it works out.
To put it simply, I am a mutant freak. I have the DNA of a clouded leopard grafted into me. I can climb trees, I can run really fast and do you know anyone else who has a tail? Thankfully I am not alone. I have a group, a pack, almost a posse. There is Fawn, who is part deer, Leo, who, as you probably guessed, is part lion, Beowulf, who is part grizzly bear, you do not want to make him mad, Zeff, who is part wolf and Shae who is part hawk. My name is Hunter, I'm 15, Leo is also 15, Beowulf is 16, Zeff is 13, Shae is 11, and Fawn is 8 years old.
"Hey Hunter, come see this!" cried Shae excitedly.
"Ugh, what is so important?" I groaned as I dragged myself out of our cave complex. Yeah, we found a bunch of hidden caves all connected together in some mountain range somewhere in the world.
"Yeah, because we would hate to interrupt your beauty sleep." Mumbled Leo under his breath.
"I heard that." I hissed as I passed him.
"You were meant to." He grinned back at me. I stalked over to where Shae was standing.
"What is it Shae?" I said trying to sound patient and calm.
"Watch what I can do." She shouted as she took off into the air. Shae grinned as she soared high above our heads, then she banked and turned perfectly.
"Wow," I told her once she was back on the ground, "I guess watching the other birds has really improved your flying."
"Thanks." she said blushing, her tan skin getting a pink glow.
I guess I should tell you a little bit more about what we are and what we do. We were all experimented on when we were at a place called the School. Scientists injected us, tested us and generally tortured us until one day in late November we broke free. I still remember that day.
*Flashback*
"Hunter… Hunter!" I heard someone growl right next to me. I was awake instantly. It was Beowulf.
"What?" I hissed back. His dog crate was right next to mine; he had been like a big brother to me since before I can remember.
"They are taking that bird girl in for testing again." Beowulf said, knowing that I would want to know.
"Oh, OK thanks." I whispered. I watched as they dragged the bird girl down the black hallway. I knew her, her name was Max; we had met when they had decided to let Erasers "have some fun". It was not fun. They led her away but I didn't know that it was going to be the last time I would ever see Maximum Ride.
I had just fallen back to sleep when alarms blared and red lights started pulsing. Someone must have tried escaping. I thought to myself. If only I had known just how right I was about that.
Please read and review, or add to favorites. I don't entirely care but I do want to know if I should continue with this story.
