Title: Perfect, a songfic
Fandom: Once Upon A Time
Characters/Parings: Regina/Graham, not one-sided this time for sakes of the fic.
Rating: T, because you know what I am talking about ;)
Summary: because they ARE perfect for each other.
A/N: Yes, I was listening to the non-radio edit version of the song. And it's a fic, judging by the spoiler pictures there is something completely different going on. Whatever.

He smelled like pine and wild honey, had it always been like that? She liked him, in the sense that he made nice companionship. She wasn't sure how to place it. No matter what she accomplished in this town, she was always paying that price - that something was missing, there was an empty void, that not even he could fill. She wondered sometimes if everything she had accomplished was worth this. Oh, when challenged, she would fight to keep the status quo, but she still had her doubts that she would never admit. It might not be because she wanted to keep things the way they were, but that she felt she had some sense of normal.

She tried to show emotion, to feel, and there was just nothing. But she still liked to think that what they had between them was perfect. He seemed satisfied under her thumb, and she was satisfied to exert control. Or at least pretend that things were like that.

Everything about her was perfect, her milk-white skin, the way she carried herself, the way her hair curled around her ears, the way she frowned, the way she smiled - when she did smile. Of course, nobody else could see that. They might not dare to talk about it, but they saw reasons to be critical.

Something was missing, there was a hole in her life, he could see that. It baffled him, she had everything a woman could want - there shouldn't be anything missing from her life.

She would sometimes give him that sad, empty look, as though she wanted to feel something and couldn't.

He didn't speak his mind because he knew better. Sometimes making a problem blatantly obvious was more painful, she knew how to do that back if he hit a nerve. And he didn't want to hurt her or be pushed away.

She didn't let many people in, she didn't even let him in. But he would like to think that someday, maybe she would.
