Kyoko Honda saw her life pass before her eyes. She was powerless to stop the car speeding at her and powerless to stop it from crashing into her. All she knew was that she blacked out.
She woke up, or at least she thinks she woke up. She can hear beeping and gurgling sounds and people rushing about. And..she could dimly see her darling Tohru lying over her, sleeping. "Tohru?" she thought, and tried to wake her up, but Kyoko found out that her hand could not move. "What! Why can't I move!" she thought. She thought for a minute. And the thought struck her in the face. "The car crash." She thought. "I'm dying." Another horrifying thought. And Kyoko could feel herself getting tired. More and more tired. It was like life was draining out of her. And life was. She was dying.
"But I can't die! Tohru needs me!" she shouted in her mind, desperately trying to shake out of her sleepiness. "Tohru needs me! I can't leave her." Kyoko shouted all these in her mind. But the tiredness was not leaving her. It was increasing. And after fighting the dull, grinding pain for almost an hour, the Red Butterfly, Kyoko Honda, finally gave up.
"Tohru…" she whispered out loud….as she said her final goodbye.
"Tohru…I'm going to die…
I hope that you can go on without me
Please stay strong; I know you can do it
I',m always with you
And I'll always watch over you, protect you
You'll always be the cutest little girl in my mind
With the cutest hair ,the cutest clothes ,the cutest everything
Study hard and accomplish great things in life
Forever stay the same, my dear Tohru
I'm sorry I made you angry this morning
Forgive me
I have to go now, Tohru
Goodbye."
Kyoko closed her eyes and a single tear trickled down her cheek and she felt herself breathe for the last time.
"Goodbye, Tohru." She whispered.
Tohru woke up with a start, still gripping her mother's hand. The life monitor was beeping, the lifeline straight.. "Mom? Mom?" Tohru asked, frantically. There was no reply. Tohru grabbed her mother's hand tightly, refusing to let go. "Please mom..don't leave me!" Tohru whispered, tears running down her face. There was no response. The doctors and nurses burst in through the door. "Miss Honda?" one of the doctors turned to Tohru. "Please go outside." She gently herded Tohru out. "She is going to be fine, Miss Honda." The doctor said reassuringly. Then she left Tohru in the waiting room.
Two hours later and still no response. And it was only then that Tohru knew her mother…was gone. Forever. She broke down, and wept.
