A/N: There were two phrases that inspired this piece. The first – "Brevity is the soul of wit"…
They had come a long way.
There she was, reading some hard cover tome calmly on the bench as the wind played with her hair and the ship they were on cruised ever forward.
There had been little changes to both of them. He was taller, calmer. She had lost all of her childish roundness – she was every bit the woman he had imagined she would be. And, he smiled slightly as he glanced again at the book in her hand, there were some things that would never change.
He felt a light tug on one of his pant legs and switched his gaze to the seven year old boy that was looking up at him. Both shared the same shade of olive green hair, same set of fangs and same mischeivious smile, but the child had his mother's wit, eyes, and common sense.
And as he looked both of them grinned at each other and turned as one to look over at the pale woman sitting quietly by herself on the bench a few feet away. And as they watched, one of the cabin doors was pushed precariously open and out peeked a little head, followed by the rest of a little body as the shy thing left the doorway for the ever comforting sanctity of her mother.
The lady closed her book and put it aside on the lattice bench carefully as she felt the presence of childs' hands clutching her long cream gown. Then, with a grace only found in the elder of her children, she scooped the four year old up and settled the purple haired, pigtailed girl on her lap gently.
Slowly he took a step forward, toward the picturesque pair, and the child at his left side followed with him 'till they both stood not two feet away. The lady stopped her ministrations to her daughters hair and looked up to meet him in the eye.
And she smiled. And everytime she gave him that heartfelt smile it took his breath away. With her eyes gleaming with something he couldn't fully comprehend, she spoke.
"BeastBoy."
Only… the tone of her voice did not match her face. And, his name was wrong… it was…
"BeastBoy?"
BeastBoy snapped to attention to find himself gazing dazedly at the very wary Raven sitting not two feet in front of him. She had put aside the book she had been reading and managed to stare him down, even from her lesser height on the couch. Her gaze seemed to weigh his.
"Were you hallucinating again?" She asked.
He nodded dumbly, still partially in shock from the colourful transition of his mind.
"That's it," she announced, plucking up her novel and getting up to leave. She exited slowly and meaningfully, and tossed the rest of the sentence over her shoulder as she went.
"That's the last time you eat blue tofu."
… and the second "A dream is a wish your heart makes."
Yeah, I know it's not up to my usual par, but I just had to write this. Also, I wanted to say thankyou to everyone who reviewed my second story Riddle me this. I don't know if you'll read this (you're all probably RavenRobin fans) but it really means a lot to me. I'm gonna start putting up responses to reviews on my profile page, 'cause it's just easier. I also do intend to keep working on a second chapter for that, but it's really very hard. I neeed something to come to me. I also wouldn't mind a beta reader to help - my sister would never willingly read romance, and as you can see I have very bad spellingness…
Anyway, I don't want the author's comment to be longer than the actual fic. Sorry it was so short. I'd love some feedback… maybe… hopefully. But the main thing is that you enjoy it. So, Enjoy!
