POV: Kiba

City.

Metropolis.

Call you what it will…

That is what you've become.

The television blaring,

Stupid tunes and senseless noise

I can't hear myself think,

Over your metropolitan cacophony.

I look for the stars, the moon and the sun

Drowned out, they are, by the neon lights and polluted skies.

Everywhere I walk,

The stink of it

Fills my nostrils

The trash on the streets,

Discarded lives lying under

Highways and bridges.

Trying to hang onto

Some shred of life,

There is no hope for them…

Is there?

I am disgusted…

This? Your great

Civilized land where man

Kills and runs free?

Every night, I walk

Through the filth of your world,

My heart pounding, my instincts telling

Me to run, from all that you are.

I seek perfection,

In a perverted world

And the strain of it

Is more than I can bear.

Your toxic paradise is like

A cancerous mass…

Eating away at what little soul

I have left…and is still hungry from more.

I feel the life being drawn from me,

As venom is drawn from a wound,

So too is my life force taken…

Why must you destroy

What took so long to create?

A single life, a bright shining light,

Extinguished by a single blow. One.

The common person lives in fear,

Or do they really live?

Afraid to show their faces,

Afraid they might be hurt…

By their own neighbors…

Kids kill their parents

For last week's allowance

And don't look back…

You hate me, and say you don't

I'm different, and you say I'm not

I don't fit into your uniform yet chaotic world…

I am…

And now and for all times,

I seek solace and respite from

Your fluorescent prison. This

Crystalline cage.
