Just A Little Blood

Note: I got this Idea from a story I read in Chicken Soup for the Teenager's Soul III. (I don't own that either.) Hope this isn't too bad.

Yugi and Joey were walking by the old warehouse district. Nearby was an old train station that had closed down about 50 years ago. It was late afternoon and the sky was turning a reddish-orange color as they walked through the abandoned area, talking about various things. Suddenly Joey grabbed Yugi's book and ran off, down the old train tracks. Yugi followed his friend, but tripped over one of the old wooden boards. He yelped as he fell downwards towards the rocky ground.
Joey, hearing his friend yelp then cry out with pain turned around to see his friend on the ground. He came up to Yugi and looked to see what was wrong. Yugi's leg was bleeding from a gash delivered to him by a sharp rock. Yugi was close to tears as he tried to stand, finding he couldn't.
"Hey Yug, don't worry. It's just a little blood. Here, get on my back and I'll carry you home."
Yugi nodded and smiled. "Thanks Joey." He said as he climbed onto his friend's back.

~Three Years Later~
"MR. WHELLER! MR. MOTO!" Mrs. Wilcox, their algebra teacher yelled, interrupting them in mid sentence. "You will have all of spring break to talk to each other, now PAY ATTENTION!!! As you can all see, you use the distributive property on this and then..." as their teacher rambled on Joey and Yugi sighed and got back to learning about the wonderful world of polynomials.
After class Yugi and Joey continued their previous conversation on a tournament at the mall. Yugi was going to go, but Joey couldn't as he was going to his mom's that night t watch Serenity while his mom was at a convention that night. Before e left, he made Yugi promise to call him with the results of the tournament. Then they finally spilt up, Yugi calling "See ya later Joey, bye!" as he ran off.

The next day, Joey was pretty annoyed. Yugi had promised to call him and yet...nothing. 'Well, if Yugi wants to ignore me, FINE! I'll just hang out at the arcade!' He said goodbye to his mom (she came home early that morning) and sister. Then he left to go to the arcade.
When Joey got to the arcade he started playing game after game. He was having a blast! He was close to running out of money when Duke cane over to him. "Hi Joey. Surprising to see you here."
"Wadoya mean?" Joey asked.
"um...Joey, you did hear about Yugi, right?" Duke asked softly.
"What? Did he win the tournament?"
"Joey, when Yugi was walking home from the tournament late last night, well, a drunk driver hit him."
"Oh my god! Is he okay?"
"Joey, he died on impact...I'm sorry."
Joey didn't say anything, he just ran.
~*Joey's POV*~
After about half an hour, I finally stop running and looked around me. It was getting late, the reddish-orange sky confirmed that. I looked at my surroundings and I notice that I'm in the old warehouse district. I can almost see myself and Yugi playing around, and I remember that day...
"Hey Yug, don't worry. It's just a little blood. Here, get on my back and I'll carry you home."

Only this time I couldn't carry him home.
