He had lost everything. His entire world came crashing down as he held his lover in his arms. He swore to himself that he would never forget that smile, that he would destroy what made him lose that smile. He swore this would be his goal in life, that this would be his resolve.

His resolve was starting to weaken.

It was love that made him form this resolve, and it was love that was slowly breaking it down. He had sworn to himself that he would hate the blond man that now stood before him, but instead of hating him…he was lusting after him. Instead of stepping forward to murder the man, he was stepping forward to ravage that sweet mouth.

It was all sickening.

Those nights where he would sneak into his boss's room—to finally carry out his initial plan, he always told himself—always followed the same routine: He would silently enter and shut the door behind him, making his way over to the bed where his boss would lie and smile at him.

It was this smile that was making him begin to forget the old smile. The smile he once loved that only exists in his memories, now being replaced with a new smile that would be shown to him every day.

Could one really blame him? This was the smile that could win over anyone and anything that saw it. It had the power to tame the most untamable beasts while at the same time having the power to make even the calmest of people completely snap.

This was what happened. Although, instead of snapping, it made one person lose complete sight of their girls. And instead of this person being the calmest of people, it was simply the all-too-famous Daemon Spade. The Mist Guardian, of course, would never admit to having lost sight of his goals.

But he knew it was true.

He knew that the smile that was carved into his memory was slowly chipping away at the corners. He knew the smile was now a completely different smile than what it originally was. He knew that this new smile was the warm smile his boss gave him every time they kissed, every time they made love, every time they simply looked at each other.

He knew that he had lost the old smile, but what he didn't know was that he loved this new smile just as much, if not even more.
