A.N: A Whouffle/ Once Upon A Time oneshot. No, I will not add on, and no, no prequels, I'm too lazy and have too many stories to write. Sorry! Anywho, enjoy! Yeah, I know it's crappy. It's like 1:00 in the morning, give me a break. All the italicized words are The Doctor's thoughts.
"Give her back to me!" The Doctor screamed as he lunged at Regina, "She ate the turnover, YOUR turnover and keeled over! What did you do?"
"No, Emma was supposed to eat that, not her!" Regina mumbled to herself.
"What did you do to her?"
"I baked poison apples into it. It was supposed to be for Emma." Regina stated promptly, still staring at the floor.
"Well then, how do we wake her up?" Emma asked.
"I didn't make an antidote and my potions book in in the Enchanted Forest, I only got my spell book."
The Doctor slid down into a fetal position against the wall, and for the first in a long time, cried.
It's my fault. I let her eat it. I let her eat the turnover. I didn't believe her. And now she's gone. Dead, or at least will be in a few minutes.
The faint beeping of the heart monitor slowed to a slow, steady 35bpm. Clara was on the verge of dying.
I was going to eat the turnover. She saved me, again, for the third time. Now she's gone, and this time I doubt the universe will be so kind to me again to give her back.
Clara's faint heartbeat stopped. The long pitch of the heart monitor was the only sound in the cold, gray hospital room. The Doctor slowly got up on two wobbly legs and wiped his watery eyes.
"I suppose I should go to the TARDIS."
Before he left the depressing scene, he peered at Clara. Her once rosy cheeks were pale and lifeless. Her hair was still the same shade of chocolate brown. She looked peaceful, as if she were just sleeping.
"I love you." The Doctor whispered under his breath.
He leaned in and kissed her forehead. Nothing happened.
I don't know what I was expecting, a miracle I guess. A shame the universe isn't that kind.
He turned to face the door and took the first of the long three steps to the door of the hospital room.
Not a second after that, the heart monitor started beeping, returning to a healthy 75bpm.
The Doctor whirled around and rushed back to the side of the hospital bed.
Clara gasped and opened her eyes. The scene was blurry until her eyes focused. She saw the Doctor staring down at her with teary eyes.
"Hello, Doctor."
"Clara, you were dead. I thought I had lost you forever. I-"
Clara pulled him down into a crushing kiss.
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
