Cosmic Love
Hazel was sitting on the Argo II in the middle of the night, staring out at the opaque sea. She had become fond of the ocean. It had relaxed her when she was in a bad mood, which she was.
She had just woken up from a terrible nightmare that Gaea had sent her. It was about her mother being possessed by her and killing Hazel For her birthday, Rachel (yes in my story Rachel is on the ship) had given her an iPod touch with songs so thought Hazel would like. Hazel understood technology now that Rachel had shown and taught her how to use it. She came across a song called "Cosmic Love" by Florence + the Machine.
This is an interesting title, she thought , perhaps I should listen to it. The song started to play:

I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind."
Hazel closed her eyes and started to picture her life: Her mother, meeting Sammy, her father, Gaea taking over her mother's mind, everything.

Then she imagined her last birthday in Louisiana and moving to Alaska, the terrible sadness she always felt about leaving Sammy. She felt tears threaten to fall out. She remembered dying and going to the Fields of Asphodel to make sure her her mother wouldn't go to Punishment. She saw her half-brother, Nico, come and take her the Doors of Death and give her a new life at Camp Jupiter.

She became friends with Frank and later Percy. They went on a quest together. She figured out that she loved Frank.

When she opened her eyes, Hazel felt different somehow. She looked to the sky at the wondrous stars and smiled. She felt more hopeful than ever before. She felt as if her world had changed and she could make it anything she wanted it to be. She had no regrets about what had happened in her past life because that was her past. This was the present and nothing else mattered before. She and the rest of the Seven were going to beat Gaea. She smiled at the stars, jumped up from her seat and went to bed.
