A/N: A one-shot. I'm not sure if there's anything similar to this since I don't really read much RyoSaku one shots so if there is it would be nice if you could tell me.

Beyond her reach
She sat alone on her bed, hugging her knees to comfort herself. Tear streaks ran down her face. Her eyes were swelled up from the constant crying. Her head hung low.
She sobbed to herself.
She was weak.
She knew it herself.
She regretted it.
"Tomo-chan!" Ryuuzaki Sakuno called out.
It was strange. They were meant to meet up by the tennis courts yet her best friend wasn't there. Sakuno decided to search for her best friend.
"Tomo-chan?" Sakuno called out again. She was getting worried. Why wasn't her best friend there yet?
"Ah! Tomo-chan!" Sakuno called out, noticing the two high pigtails that belonged to her best friend. She waved. Tomoka didn't seem to notice her presence. There was no reply.
She ran up to Tomoko.
"Mou…Tomo-chan!" Sakuno whined.
A white cap came into view.
"R-Ryoma-kun?" Sakuno stuttered.
She stumbled upon the two by a vending machine.
In shock her eyes widened. She gasped.
The two broke off the kiss. Her best friend was clinging possessively onto her beloved.
"Ryuuzaki?" The boy looked at her with normal bored eyes.
Her heart received an unpleasant pang. Sakuno felt her eyes watering. Something within her broke. Her hands turned into fists shaking with anger. She walked up to him.
PAK
Echizen gazed at the girl in surprise. He held his sore cheek in one hand. Tears were streaming out of her eyes. The look on her face shouted hatred.
"I-I hate you Ryoma-kun!" She yelled with teary eyes.
"Sakuno!" Her friend bellowed.
Ryuuzaki Sakuno ran off leaving her best friend and boyfriend stunned.
The tears that fell from her eyes gradually dripped off the end of her chin and stained her uniform. A small smile made its way towards her lips. She remembered the time when Echizen Ryoma had asked her out. She was brimming with happiness that day he had asked her to be his girlfriend.
"Ryuuzaki," the boy's cheeks were tinted pink. He pulled his white cap down in order to conceal his blush.
"Nya Ochibi!" a hyperactive redhead swung his arm over Echizen's shoulder. The boy glared daggers at his senpai.
Eiji took his arm off and made his way over to Sakuno. He whispered something into her ear that made her go beetroot red.
"Kikumaru-senpai!" Sakuno exclaimed, blushing madly. Said person began laughing. He nudged Echizen to speak up.
"Ryuuzaki, will you go out with me?" Echizen asked.
She had been betrayed by the two people she had least suspected. Then again, she felt somewhat relieved her bestfriend no longer had to drool over him since they were together now.
It was no longer Sakuno & Ryoma.
It was Tomoka & Ryoma.
She laughed to herself and let the last drops of water pour out of her eyes. Maybe it was stupid for her to fall for someone as blunt as Echizen Ryoma. She was nobody compared to him.
Slowly, she stood up, wiping her tear filled eyes with the back of her hand to clear her blurry vision. Ryuuzaki Sakuno smiled brightly erasing any traces of her having cried. She walked towards her bedroom door.
She had made a decision.
She would no longer be 'the' shy girl she was.
She would no longer be weak.
She would be strong.
A strong girl that would never fall for someone beyond her reach.
