Nightfall shrouded him in darkness. There was barely even any moonlight, effectively masking the enemy's animalistic attacks.
His hands -bound tightly at the wrists above his head- and shoulders, taking his full weight, had gone completely numb hours earlier. Eyes blurry from blood and sweat, he still caught the glint of light.
The blade cut a burning line of agony across his abdomen.
Any rescue attempt would come too late.
He took solace in knowing his team didn't leave him behind, they'd followed orders and escaped.
This time, as he blacked-out, Jack took comfort in knowing he would die alone.
