Spoilers! When Basta killed Farid, what was his real motive behind this? Was it to get back at Dustfinger? Or Meggie? From the moment Basta and Meggie saw each other they loved each other. So when Basta killed Farid, was it out of hate and revenge or love and jealousy? How will Meggie react? And can she love a man who kills?

Prologue

Basta's POV

My screams ring out through the mill as it burns and its fire engulfs me. That damn boy and Dirtyfingers! Not only did that boy steal the woman i love but now they have scarred me further. If i survive this my body will be covered in scars and my angel, Meggie, will think i am hideous and will be frightened of me. The very thought makes my heart feel as if someone is squeezing it.

The only reason i came here to this damn mill was to killthe boy and Dustfinger and bringmy angel home, my home, where she belongs.

Despite my pain and i get to my feet. I push myself to run to the close by river and jump in hissing at the pain. I will kill those two idiots and take my angel.

Meggie I'm coming.

Meggie's POV

It breaks my heart having to leave him there, screaming in pain. Tears stream down my face. Farid wraps his arm around me thinking I'm upset about the sudden trap and worry about my injured father. But he'spartly wrong. I am worried about Mo but I'm crying because i want to stay and heal Basta. The man i love.

But it can never be. Even though i planned to tell Farid i dont have feelings for him maybe i should stay with him and ill learn to love him.

I'll have to try that and see what happenes. And ignore my love for Basta.
