Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or anything relating to it, yet this has none of the characters that the books do.

Author's Note: Ever think what would happen if there was a story about the stuff from Harry Potter in other parts of the world? Well, since I am a proud Canadian, here is the Canadian version of it. Devin is modeled after a few people I know along with myself, and Kiana in it takes a few cues from my girlfriend and cousin, and Matt basically IS my cousin's friend with a different name. Well, hope you enjoy!

The Diary of Devin Hull

Chapter One: Happy Birthday!

I woke to the sound of Arutaro, a great grey owl, the family owl, tapping on the hall window. I let him in, and I looked at the calendar. August 11. My birthday! Cool, I totally forgot! I heard my parents sneaking around, no doubt stacking all my presents against the door so the second I walk out they'll spring from behind and yell Happy Birthday, effectively scaring the hell out of me. Just like last year. I'm not ready for that, so I will just lie down. I lied down, now here I am, talking to you. Hi. I'm Devin. Devin Hull. I have no idea who you are though. Hull. Does that ring a bell? I come from a very rich and very powerful wizarding family. And that's being modest. My dad owns Rapidflare, the biggest broomstick company in North America, maybe even the world, except for Nimbus. And my mom, just stays home. She hasn't worked since I was born, and today I turned 11. Wait, I just thought of something... Arutaro's probably delivering my LNAM acceptance letter!

LNAM... Lake Nipigon Academy for Magic. The only magic school in Canada. My sister is in her third year. My parents both graduated with honors. But something that would come before that is going to Peregrine Court. It was in downtown Toronto, the Diagon Alley (in those stupid muggle Harry Potter books, written by a very respectable witch to lead muggles in the really wrong direction about us) of Canada, except there was another one in Vancouver. I think I'm ready to go to my birthday party. I opened the door...

And there was nothing there. I walked down the hall. Nothing. Downstairs. Naught. In the kitchen. No. In the sunroom there was a small hill of boxes, packages, tubes, etc. on the floor. No one was there. I looked up to see everyone on the balcony staring at me, trying not to make a sound. I smiled and climbed upstairs, got right behind them, and yelled, "IS IT READY YET?!?!?!" at the top of my lungs, causing my dad to almost fall off the rail and my sister jumped a good foot in the air and shrieked. My mom just laughed the whole time and held my dad up. We went downstairs and opened my presents, which weren't very many, because, as my dad explained,

"Devin. The reason why you don't have that many is because I will be taking you to Peregrine Court to buy your school supplies, and I'll get you quite a lot of stuff there." My mom and sister looked at him expectantly while I just stared. "You have just been accepted into LNAM." I wasn't surprised or shocked at all. I knew. "And I'm taking you today because that would be easiest as I have a meeting there anyway." Well, THAT was unexpected.

A few minutes later I was standing outside, dressed in muggle clothes, in front of our castle (Well, huge mansion that looks like a castle) with my father, who was clutching a 20 muggle money bill, muttering "Portus", felt a tug at my navel and a scary spinning sensation, and I was standing in a dark alley in downtown Toronto.
