"and we'll always be together. Right, Moony?" Sirius laughed as he draped himself across Remus' welcoming lap. Young as they were, they knew how things were going to go for them. "Right, Padfoot."

Remus reached for the bottle that lay a few inches from his weakened fingers; he brought the open neck to his dry lips and drank heartily from the amber liquid. In his drunken state, he missed a few drops that danced from his lips to tickle at a fresh cut. He hissed a little and wiped at it before staggering to his socked feet.

The Black house was where he stayed. Its walls, though haunting, held the last bit of comfort he would find in any place. He found his way to a shelf where he usually found solace in photographs. A particular frame held what he searched for now; an old, tattered recollection of he and Sirius Black. As he stared at it, Sirius was smiling and curling the silvery blond hair behind Remus' ear like he enjoyed doing. Strange, how enchanted pictures could make you feel. Like he could have been alive for just a little while...

"You were always so youthful, love..." he whispered to the repetitive image of young Sirius. Sometimes, he liked to pretend the pictures could hear him.

It had been three and a half painful weeks since Bellatrix stole Sirius away from life. Three and a half weeks of empty wishing, lack of eating and an increase of drinking. Remus knew that he was a terrible sight to behold; something Sirius wouldn't be happy seeing, but it couldn't be helped. As he stared at the picture, a sudden cloudy droplet fell with a plip onto the glass. He touched his own face. He hadn't realized he had began crying.

He struggled himself away from the shelf to Sirius' closet. It was just the way he had left it, except the coat he had worn the day he died was hanging from the door of it. A small, choked sob couldn't be helped as Remus eagerly put it on. Tears flowed stronger now, and the man let himself sob into the soft leather as he embraced himself with the comforting fabric.

"I miss you so much when you aren't around, Remus."

Remus' honey eyes were cloudy and empty as he stared at the wall. He had long since retreated into his mind where Sirius still echoed. The pain of losing him was so much that not even the closest could reach him anymore.

"I love you so much..."

He seemed to speak to him a lot more. Perhaps he had lost his mind, perhaps he just missed him that much. Perhaps he was just calling to him...

"I hear you, Sirius..."

A daze had him as he walked through the house; his feet seemed lighter than ever as he glided up the stairs. Sirius's room smelled strongly of him with lovely mixtures of cologne and trees. He sniffled softly, reaching for another bottle from a small cabinet as he made his way to Padfoot's bed.

He uncorked it, smiling, for the first time in weeks that seemed like years.

"And we'll be together forever. Right, Moony?"

With a few swallows, Remus took the bitter fluid down, set the bottle aside and lied back on the bed. His fingers slid over a pillow that smelled the most like his lover and clutched it, bringing it close to his body. Tears gathered on it slowly for a while before he shut his eyes and his breathing slowed down.

"Right, Moony?"

The words echoed in his head loudly, as if he was there with him. He opened his eyes and there Sirius lay, smiling at him. Remus smiled and touched his face. "Right, Padfoot..." he whispered before weakly, he shut his eyes and his breathing slowed to a stop.
