Notes: I took the names of the town and the mayor from my own ACNL game. XD And Rhonda's one of my villagers. One of my favourites, to be truthful. :)
The train sways and rocks beneath her, making her stomach roil uneasily. Rover's in the next seat over, but Rhonda doesn't want to talk to him. Not again. She thinks perhaps the continuous train journeys have done something to crack his brain, considering his choice of topics, but immediately rebukes the thought as being unkind. She doesn't want to be unkind. It's not his fault that he's a little bit odd. And who is she to judge? After all, she's the one who's plucked up her roots and moved across the country to a town she's never been in before. A town she only chose by virtue of closing her eyes and letting her hoof land on a tiny dot almost all the way to the coastline.
But she needs to run, needs to be free of stifling family expectations, of a job going nowhere fast. Of the smog she can't breathe anymore without choking, spluttering into her handkerchief in a sea of uncaring commuters. Out West, it's supposed to be simpler. Freer. A return to a happier time and place, where a person can simply pick fruit, catch insects, and go fishing. None of this drive, this demand. Do this, do that, don't you dare show yourself up as less. Because if you're less, then you're nobody.
Rhonda just wants to be happy. As the train pulls into the station, she cranes her neck to peek out the window. Faywick, reads the town sign. She sighs as she heaves herself up, grabbing her suitcase. Maybe this can be the new start she's always hoped for, that she used to dream of as a child before she had to pack up her daydreams with her toys.
Outside, there's a woman standing there, smiling so brightly, it's nearly blinding.
"Hi, you must be Rhonda?" the woman says, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. Rhonda nods shyly, unsure of what to do.
"I'm Cria," the woman says, reaching out a hand to shake Rhonda's. "I'm the mayor. Welcome to Faywick!"
And Rhonda follows her into her new dream.
