Catherine stepped out of the bathroom and began to head back towards the hotel lobby. She stopped short when she noticed a redhead with a phone to his ear. Smirking, she walked over and announced herself. "Work?"
He turned towards her and smiled with his eyes before hanging up. "Just some lab results."
Catherine laughed. "Working on your wedding day. Some things never change Horatio. You're terrible."
"I know." he said quietly, ducking his head.
"What would your wife say?"
Horatio laughed and looked towards the lobby. "Since we're spending our honeymoon in the hotel bar with half the wedding party, she'd kill me."
"Lucky for you there are some damn good investigators in there."
"You bring your kit?"
"I take it everywhere but the grocery store." They laughed together and Catherine was reminded of all the fun times they had together in the past. "I don't recall telling you congratulations, so, congratulations."
Horatio smiled at her softly and pulled her in a hug. "Thank you."
Catherine just nodded, the familiar scent of his cologne triggering more memories. She was often amazed at how he was able to smell so good at all hours of the day, regardless of what he was doing. After they had separated, the next boyfriend Catherine attempted to have tried the same cologne. It smelled horrible on him.
She released him from the hold, afraid of what more she would be reminded of. When their eyes met, however, intimate memories flashed through her mind. Horatio's blue eyes would darken with lust when he wanted her. It was a sight to see in public, the way he could make her go from zero to sixty with just a flashing of his eyes.
They would stay dark until he was satisfied. Catherine remembered his eyes being particularly dark their first time together. He hovered over her, kissing here and there down her chest and stomach. His actions warranted a giggle, a moan and a growl from her. Horatio had stopped to laugh and told her that all those actions happened in less than 5 seconds.
"You're just talented." She had retorted. The rest of the night was devoted to showing her how talented he really was.
"Catherine." Horatio's voice brought her back to the present. "I know that look."
She looked away smiling shyly. "Yeah. I know you do. I was just remembering all the things we used to do." Movies, eating on the beach, late mornings spent in bed.
Horatio nodded in understanding. "That's a dangerous line of thinking."
"Know that too." Catherine said quietly. They were both in strong and steady relationships but Catherine would be lying to herself if she didn't admit that she missed his company at times. She smiled up at him. "You weren't good for me...and I wasn't good for you."
"No." Horatio agreed. "But I still consider you to be one of my closest friends." He offered her his arm.
Taking it, Catherine said, "Good. I think of you as a good friend too."
