Selfless
Selfless. It is probably the word that describes Harry the best.
Brave. No one can deny that Harry is this.
Caring. If Harry isn't, who is?
Selfless. Harry James Potter has always been selfless. He was raised selfless. The Dursleys made sure of that. What happens when his deepest desire is fulfilled?
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was talking to Fawkes in his office when a bright flash of blinding light filled the room. When the light died down and he could uncover his eyes, he saw two figures standing in the room. A man with black messy hair and hazel eyes was standing next to a woman with long red curls and bright emerald eyes. James and Lily Potter were standing in the headmaster's office.
After a short awkward silence, Lily stepped forward.
"Headmaster Dumbledore," she said, and then continued formally. "We are extremely pleased to tell you that we have earned a second chance at life." She smiled, and then broke down in tears of joy. James wrapped his arm around her comfortingly.
"How is this possible?" Albus asked, bewildered. James answered,
"Lily and I never really passed into the afterlife. We were considered too young to die, and were kept in a limbo of sorts." Lilly took a breath and then took over.
We have spent years proving our worth, and have finally done so." She gave him a pleading look. "Can we please see Harry?" Albus had to admit, they looked desperate. But the headmaster was no fool. He would have to test this out.
After a brief moment of consideration, Albus cast his patronus and sent it off to find Professor Snape. He asked that said Professor bring a vial of veritaserum and a blood test kit. Not ten minutes later the potions master arrived in the office with the required items. Looking around, he noticed the Potters and did a double take.
"Headmaster what is the meaning of this?"
"That is what I have called you here to determine Severus." His eyes twinkling madly. "Please give me the veritaserum. I will question them later. Could you prepare the blood test and take some samples for an old man?" Lily and James participated quietly, hoping this would let them see their son, Harry.
Meanwhile, Harry, Ron and Hermione were walking down to the great hall for dinner. They had been let out of potions early due to Snape being called by Professor Dumbledore, and Hermione had nagged them into using the time to complete homework. Harry had inwardly agreed with Hermione, but thought it best to outwardly agree with Ron.
"Honestly 'Mione," Ron was saying. "I was actually glad to get out of potions, until you insisted we do our history of magic essay!" Hermione opened her mouth but before she could say a word, a patronus had appeared in front of them and Dumbledore's voice came out calling them to his office.
"Great!" Huffed Ron, "Now we miss out on a free period and Dinner." Hermione rolled her eyes at Harry and he gave Ron an exasperated look.
"Lets just go."
Half an hour later, Harry was sitting down opposite his parents, staring open mouthed at their story. He couldn't believe his ears, or his eyes for that matter. Ron and Hermione were on either side of him, also in shock. It was Hermione who recovered first.
So, Mrs. potter, if all that is true, what happens now?" Lily smiled at her and turned to Harry,
"If its okay with you, we want to move back into Potter Manor, and we would like you to stay with us in the Holidays. We understand that we haven't been there for you and we would really like to change that starting now. Would you let us?" it was as though this is what Harry had been waiting for. He leaped up and threw his arms around her.
"Its all I've ever wanted!"
Selfless. It is probably the word that describes Harry the best.
The end.
