Screams.

All that is heard are screams. Blood-curdling, heart-wrenching screams.

Screams of someone in need.

(So who's going to be the hero now?)

Him.

He r u n s .

&& the screaming c o n t i n u e s .

And he knows the owner.

He can see her struggling in the night . . . but soon she evaporates into rain, falling from the sky.

They say rain brings l i f e .

(You can only hope)

His vision b l u r s . . . h-e-l-o-s-e-s-s-i-g-h-t-o-f-h-e-r-.

But he can still hear through the downpour.

A gunshot.

Just a muffled sound,

c a r e s s i n g the raindrops,

k i s s i n g the darkness.

D A R K N E S S .

Pitch black, silent darkness.

The only sound is the precipitation.

The screams stop.

But his feet don't.

He r u n s ,

Not caring about pace,

Not caring about direction.

Only caring about speed.

The faster he runs, the faster he'll get to her rescue.

. . . hopefully.

(Right, left, right, left)

(Until you can't run anymore)

He F A L L S through the rainwater.

The harsh irony hitting him like a ton of bricks.

Then he r e a l i z e s :

He is no Mackenzie.

This is no e p i s o d e .

This is real,

And he can't stop it.

(But you're still going to try)

H E G E T S U P .

And continues to run,

And sees. . .

A storage shed,

In the m i d d l e o f n o w h e r e .

And he has a feeling . . .

So he runs in,

Proving his assumption correct, there's

Blood pooling at his feet.

(You know it's hers)

(But you can't find her body)

(You can't find her now)

But he isn't giving up.

H-e-'-l-l-n-e-v-e-r-g-i-v-e-u-p.

So he r u m m a g e s through the shed.

And finds a gun.

And finds a broken window.

But he doesn't find what he is l-o-o-k-i-n-g-f-o-r-.

(But you're not giving up until you do.)

So he searches for it.

He looks for it.

He finds it.

But not the way he wants it.

Now he knows:

They were wrong.

Rain doesn't bring life.

It didn't for her.

&& it won't for him. . .

{Screams.}

{All that was heard were screams. Blood-curdling, heart-wrenching screams.}

{Screams of someone in need.}

{(So who's going to be the hero now?)}

It isn't him.

If he can't save her. . .h o w c a n h e s a v e h i m s e l f?
