"A man once wept because he had no sons until he met a mother who had no children. That sentence used to make absolutely no sense to me, but as I stand here on this stage getting ready to move from Middle School to High School I am finally beginning to understand the wisedom of those words.
"Life is not always easy. There are times where life can be downright diffucult. Let me tell you about a personal experience I went through. I was suffering from lekuemia when I was six. I got better. This year I had a relapse. I'm better now. ((Julie smiled gratefully at Monk)) thanks to the most amazing friend this world could ever know. The gift that he gave my mom and I... well it will live forever with us in our soul and spirit. It is a gift I am so grateful for.
"What we need to remember is that no matter how bad things seem they aren't. Lets say that you are in a house and you can't leave. YES IT SUCKS but it really doesn't when you look at the fact that YOU HAVE A HOUSE. There are people out there freazing to death, starving to death and there are people who collect bottles to put in recyclable/money exchange machine for a nickle a bottle just so they could buy their next meal. You on the other hand have a nice warm house. You have food in your belly. You have toliet paper. Can you imagine what it would be like NOT to have such simple needs like TOILET PAPER? Some people don't have to imagine it. Some people LIVE IT. You have education. You have the computer which allows you the privellege to talk with people... oh and lets not forget this little thing called a telephone. You have friends who love you and care about you.
"So as the year draws to a close I have one challenge for you. Be greatful for your life. Be greateful for everything that the heavenly maker gave you. Be greateful for your friends, your family and everything else that you have. Remember we're not ending something. We're just beginning something. Thank you and may the graduating class of this year remember... we have toliet paper (a small chuckle is heard) and so much more. Congraduations"
