Chapter One: Noise and a secret mission

It was a nice and sunny saturday in Konoha. People are strolling through the streets, chatting happily with their friends or checking out some of the displayed shop items on main street. Everything was peaceful and quite in a relaxed atmosphere.

"WHAAAAAT?"
OK, scratch quite.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?"

Where is that noise coming from? Ah, of course. The Hokage tower. There - in the Hokage office - two beautiful blond kunoichi tried to stare down their opposite. The two kunoichi are the 5th Hokage, Tsunade and one of her apprentices,
Ino Yamanaka who opened her mouth again to scream:

"WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS MISSION WITH HIM? HE'S NOT EVEN A CHUUNIN. AND HE'S A DUM..."
"IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD SHUT YOUR MOUTH NOW" Tsunade interrupted her ranting and raving in a dangerous voice.

"I SEE HIM AS MY LITTLE BROTHER AND IF YOU FINISH THAT SENTENCE I WILL KICK YOUR SORRY ASS
OUT OF MY OFFICE."

Ino gulped. She knew that her master had a short temper and that she should take her warning seriously.

In a smaller voice she said:

"Gomennasai Tsunade-sama. But still: I dont want to go on a mission with that dobe. All he thinks about is ramen, training and Sakura. Besides...isnt he on a mission already?"

"He came back two hours ago and immediatly requested a new one. That would be the 20th mission in two weeks. Im worried about him." Tsunade said.

"Why should you be worried about him? It is Naruto we're talking about. He is always asking for something to do or missions so..."

"But this time its different. Sure, asking for missions is one of his trademarks, but for the last two weeks he is always asking for S-rank missions. And not only that but only for the hardest of them as well"

"So what? It IS Naruto..."

"Would you ask for a S-rank mission and always ask to do it alone with the same breath?" Tsunade interrupted Ino again.

"Alone? Is he suicidal?" asked Ino and saw Tsunade flinch. "OH MY GOD! YOU REALLY THINK..."

"IM NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK" Tsunade interjected while avoiding eye contact with Ino.

"He wont talk to me. Everytime Im going to ask what's on his mind he makes excuses and leaves. Thats why I summoned you here. To give you a second mission besides the A-rank with Naruto."

"And that would be?" Ino asked already guessing where this is going.

"Well..." Tsunade started...

On the other side of the village a boy with spiky blond hair and blue eyes laid on his bed with his hands behind his head thinking about his last mission.

"Why wont she give me a S-rank mission?" he asked himself.

"Always its A-rank. What should I do? Even on a A-rank mission my chances are not very high...to find someone capable of killing me."
