I felt the weight shift on my bed. I knew why, it was reaping day and Lucy was scared. She might only be 4, but after losing Caden last year to the Hunger Games, she is worried about the rest of us. She latches onto my side, and Darius wrapped his arms around both of us.

There was a light knock at the door, and Emily and Evan walked in, and hopped onto the bed, curling up with us. Since they left the door open, the others walked in, Robert and Carter followed by Danielle. We all curled up on my bed, just holding one another. We knew the odds were not in our favor. Every year since I was twelve, I had my name put in for every time it had to be, and then my tesserae, so I have 6 for each year, and the extra ones for my family. For the first 2 years, I had to have my name in 9 times each year. Now I have my name in 8 times per year. I have a total of 66 entries. Dani has only been doing this for 4 years and has 32 entries, Carter being 12 has 8. Darius who has supported himself since he was twelve has 12 entries.

Our cat, Midnight, came in right at nine in the morning to get us up so we could get ready. We all got out of bed and while the younger three took their showers, the older three got the reaping outfits out of our special occasion's closet. Darius and I got breakfast ready for all 8 of us, and brought down the bags we had packed incase both of us had to go to the Capitol.

"Annie! I can't find Lucy's pink dress!" I hear Dani cry from upstairs

"It's on the rack behind Emily and Evan's!" I call back, hoping she remembers about the fact that closet is on a rotor.

Lucy came down first, wearing a light pink dress, her black hair pinned back with a matching headband and sliver flats.

"Oh Lucy, you look darling" I commented, helping her into her chair for breakfast. She gave me a kiss on the cheek as Darius served her an omelet, hers with sausage and cheddar.

Emily and Evan came down together. Emily was wearing a deep purple skirt and white top, her headband was a deep blue color with a red lace on it. Evan was wearing a deep blue shirt and red tie, and the handkerchief was a deep purple with white lace. My twins were always trying to show they were twins.

As they sat down, Darius brought them their omelets, a veggie one for Emily and a meat one for Evan. That was their only major difference, Emily was a vegetarian, and Evan was an omnivore.

Robert came down next, His yellow tie was the first thing I noticed. It stood out against his gray shirt and black jacket. His handkerchief was a black silk and yellow lace.

Darius had already set his omelet at the table, just cheese.

I went upstairs to change into my black silk dress and bright blue head band. After I put on my black heels, I went back downstairs and saw that Dani and Carter and gotten ready.

Dani's cropped hair looked like the flames she could make. Her Dress even looked like flames. Bright red at the top, fading to orange and then again to yellow.

Carter was wearing his usual earthy tones.

Darius had to wear his peacekeeper uniform, and after he put it on, we all left for the reaping. Lucy was getting carried by Carter, she was carrying her little rag doll named Tami. Tami was one of her best friends who had died in the school explosion last year. Lucy can still see her. Lucy can see everyone who has died. She is my strong little girl, she never crys unless it was someone who had a life to live, for example, last year, after the explosion, she cried, but when an old man died, she was happy, she claimed he was in a better place. She is our light.

AN So each of the Karmas have a power. Annie can manipulate Ice, Dani-Fire, Carter- Earth, Robert-Electricity, Evan-Blood, Emily - Air, and Lucy can see those who have died, the can all astral project.
