Shepard followed the man as he entered further, further into the dark crypt, the empty pit that was the tomb that held her objective.

"So what, exactly is this man?"

The man guiding her laughed, eyes glinting in amusement- and something else. "Man? What you seek to unleash is no 'man', he is no 'human', he merely 'IS', Shepard. He IS and he CONSUMES, but he is no man…" he laughed to himself, and Shepard saw what he was laughing about.

It wasn't a laugh of amusement.

It was terror.

The terror that can only come from being placed in the presence of something so far beyond your comprehension that there is no hope of survival, of being placed before something that is infinitely your greater. Shepard thought she knew the feeling- she thought she felt it on Akuze.

But no… this was more. This was the terror that comes from an ant looking upon a god- no, upon a GOD, upon something so far beyond understanding that all one could do would be to bow their heads and pray for a swift, merciful death.

"Then what is he?"

"He is beyond us, Shepard. Do you know why the Illusive Man- yes, I am very aware of who sent you and why- sent you to us? Tell me, Shepard, do you know why the Turians and Salarians released the Krogan against the Rachni?"

"They needed the forces."

"No, Shepard. They needed a monster, a MONSTER to face the MONSTER that was the Rachni swarm." He stopped before a large doorway, the image of a stone eye looking out at her. He was quiet, controlled, as he continued. "Shepard… unleashing this… unleashing HIM once more… it will be like the Lord opening the sky upon Sodom and Gomorrah. It will be like nothing else before, and nothing to come."

"Stop speaking in riddles already, and tell me what's going on!"

The man sighed, pushing open the door. It was a small room, with one feature, and only one feature.

A jet-black coffin, lying against the wall, with a silver inscription.

The Bird of Hermes is my Name.

Eating my Wings to make me Tame.

"Tell me, Shepard…" the man murmured, licking his lips. "What do you know of Hellsing?"

AAND cut! One-shot, sorry. Something that came to me, and I had to write out. Hope you all enjoy!
