Lucas POV/chapter one.
Maya and I entered the café smoothly. We then saw Ryan and his new girlfriend Katie Jackson sitting down on their table, both flirting.
"Quick Lucas hold my hand," Maya stated while grasping my right hand. I sighed a little and I took my hand out from her grasp.
"Quit being so demanding Maya, I could easily walk out of here and not go on this fake date with you," I whispered into her air.
"Lucas we're on a fake date-we have to make it believable," she whispered, but she didn't sound gentle or loving, she sounded a bit frustrated.
"Okay fine," I grabbed her hand and we walked to a table, with huge fake smiles on our faces. I sat down next to Maya and grabbed a menu but put it down as there was something that I was worried about, I turned to face her slightly. "So I know you said that Riley was okay with this, but is she really okay with it? I mean, I really like her, I don't want her to be upset or anything."
"Yes Romeo she's okay with it, you and Juliet will end up happily ever after." She paused for a second, and looked in the direction of Ryan and Katie, who were looking at us. Maya gave me a gigantic fake smile and turned to face me.
"Okay so we have to make this believable…" She said through her very fake smile.
"What do you mean? They'll be able to tell that we're on a date won't they?" I faked an oblivious expression. Though I knew what she was getting at, I didn't really want to act all lovey dovey with her.
"We have to flirt. It will make it look more believable." She said as she bumped my shoulder playfully.
"Um okay, you have really pretty blue eyes you know." I smiled at her dreamily, only half faking it.
"Thanks…" Her cheeks went bright red, and she started giggling out of the blue. I wasn't sure why she was acting so nervous all of the sudden-usually she was really confident around me.
"They're not looking now. We can stop," she stated.
"Oh yeah okay," I stated nonchalantly, trying to brush it off, but in all honesty I felt a little awkward. A little while later I felt the presence of someone else...I looked up and saw Ryan, the guy who we were trying to make jealous. I swallowed the lump in my throat, and prepared to speak. "Uh hey, what's up?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"This is a fake date isn't it?" He asked with a no nonsense tone, he asked the question as if he already knew the answer completely.
"No of course not! Where on earth did you get that idea?!" Maya asked with a jumpy voice.
"Yeah you're not good at acting-stick to your day job Hart," he rolled his eyes and prepared to turn around. I didn't like how he was treating Maya, and just as I was about to stick up for her she cut me off.
"We wouldn't do this if we were on a 'fake' date," Maya turned to me and kissed me on the lips, only slightly but I felt something, I just couldn't pin point what that something was. When she let go Ryan was staring at both of us, and had an aggressive look of jealousy plastered across his oval shaped face. I was speechless, and so was Maya. I knew that it was for acting purposes but it didn't feel all that fake. I knew that Maya and I had our fights and quarrels over the past year that I had known her, but despite all of that I knew that I had never really hated her. I had my moments where I got really annoyed at her, but I always cared about her, and would always stick up for her when necessary, we also had a great time together-well most of the time. I had never considered that I actually liked her more than a friend though. I sighed to myself, what was I even thinking? I really liked Riley-even though we weren't dating it kind of felt like we were dating. We had experienced our first date weeks before, and I knew it was insane of me to even think about anyone else, especially Maya of all people.
"You know what you two can have each other," he sighed and walked back to Katie. Maya and I looked at each other, and it was awkward to say the least.
"Sorry about kissing you. I thought it'd make him believe us, but the kiss wasn't a big deal or anything,"
"Yeah true! Uh it's okay I guess… I probably should get home now, I'll walk you…"
"No I'm fine, I can get Shawn to pick me up, and he texted to say that he would."
A little while later we parted, and I couldn't stop thinking about the kiss, even when I tried hard not to.
