Why?
AN: Hello readers. 10th grade has been a nightmare for me, so I haven't had enough time to update Contract Killer Mommy, but I will in the next two weeks or so. Anyway, I wanted to try my hand at HTTYD fanfictions, so here it is and I hope you like it!

Toothless was crying.
The great black Night Fury was howling at the raging storm above, rain pelting his scales and head. Thick tears mixed with the rain, creating a muddy mess on his feet. But none of that mattered to him now, for his best friend and partner, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, was dead. The thin boy's body was lying at Toothless's feet in a pool of his own blood, the red liquid staining the stones.
He hadn't been quick enough to save the one human that had ever tried to connect with him from the Monstrous Nightmare that the boy had been forced to fight. The dragon had killed Hiccup after chasing him around, giving Toothless just enough time to reach the dome to see Hiccup's lifeless form fall to the ground.
He had roared in anger, and blasted a hole in the metal, before killing the beast that had killed his friend.
The Vikings had surrounded the dragon quickly, but were puzzled by the creature's behavior. It hadn't tried to eat Hiccup's body or attack any of them. It just looked... Sad. Its eyes glazed over from grief, staring at them all, as if saying, "Go ahead. I won't stop you."
Toothless let out a grief-stricken roar, mourning Hiccup's demise. He whimpered, and lowered his head to the dead boy's small chest.
Why had they taken him away?
Why didn't Hiccup refuse?
Why's filled Toothless's head, until one remained.
Why had Toothless let him go?
