Hello, my readers! Dear Lord, it has been entirely too long since I've visited this site and this story (or set of smaller stories) specifically. It's been nearly three years! Crazy how time flies like that, yeah?
In those three years I've grown and changed dramatically as a writer; I've learned new styles, what my style is, how to write different genres, how to create whole worlds or build on existing ones, learned how to develop characters and plot...the list goes on and on. In saying that (as in, as long as we're talking about growth), I have always understood the importance of looking back on previous pieces of work that I've written and seeing my progress, which, in my opinion, has been astounding.
Now, when I was writing these series of oneshots, I was inexperienced (which is something that can be argued even now, truth be told) and was simply writing whatever came to mind. Reading them now, these oneshots appear underdeveloped and essentially realmless, as they stay within realistic fiction and barely brush any dark concepts, deep issues, or even things that aren't so dark or aren't so deep. They're so simple. They go nowhere. They lack detail and depth and variety, and I would like to fix that.
I've been in a bit of a stump for the past year when it comes to writing, which happened after I finished writing a work that's something like 130,000 words long or something like that (a work that I'm rather proud of). I believe that re-working these oneshots will help get me out of that stump and help the creative juices flow!
So! Here's a basic breakdown of what's going to happen:
-I will be re-writing most if not all of these oneshots. They will be updated sporadically, so you'll be reading a story that's pretty long and hopefully semi-good and then the next chapter is like barely 2,000 words long and looks like the writer went from possibly college level writing to second grade level writing. I'm sorry for these inconsistencies! They'll remain until every chapter is re-worked, I'm afraid.
-These new oneshots will contain more mature themes, so the rating of the work as a whole will go up. If you are sensitive to any of the topics discussed in the oneshot and you'd like a heads up on what not to read, don't worry! As was the same in the old oneshots, the new ones will have a summary at the top and I will list any warnings above as well (self harm, suicide, non-consensual actions, or for all of my readers out there who don't care for anything too sexually explicit, I'll put that warning above). I will not include swearing as a warning; however, if people ask for it, I'll start to do so.
-The genres of these oneshots will stray from realistic fiction and will venture into fantasy and mystery as well (honestly who knows, it could be anything). Since romance and friendship are the overall themes, I'll put the sub-genre above with the chapter summary and warnings.
If you prefer the old oneshots over the new ones and don't want to see the old ones erased: That's okay! If several people step forth and ask for the old ones back, I'll gladly supply and post them in a separate, older collection. No worries!
...alright then, I think it's about time to get started. I hope you guys are excited and are going to enjoy what comes next. Let's do this!
