Hello readers. This is my first attempt at fan-fiction and, in fact, fiction in general, assuming we're not counting Dungeons and Dragons campaigns! It's just going to be an attempt at a short scene that would have fallen right after the dual scene between Hermione and Ron in the Order of the Phoenix movie.
Let me say first of all that I'm a big fan of the books and not as much of the movies. I think that Ginny has been portrayed horribly in the movies so far, not by the actress but by the scripts. Therefore, this story will be featuring the Ginny from the books.
Anyway, please feel free to critique. The next part, which will probably be the second of three, should be online shortly.
THE SECOND DUAL, PART ONE
Harry walked toward his friend, trying to conceal the grin that had spread over his entire face. "Nice of you to let her win that one, Ron!" he said in a patronizing voice. He put his hand on Ron's shoulder. "Next time you should probably try to let her win a bit less though. For a moment I thought that we were going to have to send you to the healing ward!"
As expected, this elicited a round of laughter from the gathered boys. Harry glanced over at the match's victor. Hermione was positively beaming as the girls crowded around her. As usual, Harry's eyes were seeking another girl, though.
His gaze met that of Cho Chang, as it had so often over the past couple of days. Immediately, he shifted his gaze to the floor, grinning awkwardly. He knew from experience that she was doing the exact same thing. Harry only had a moment to reflect on this, though. His awkward thoughts were interrupted suddenly by Ron.
"Of course Harry could beat Ginny! He was just saying yesterday that her technique was awful!" Ron's voice could be heard clearly over both groups' din. Instantly, the room became painfully quiet. "What'd you say, Harry? Something about being surprised she wasn't held back a year?"
Harry winced as he heard those words. He spun around to face Ron, who looked at him with an innocent expression. "I said nothing of the sort!" he retorted loudly. "I just said that she wasn't good enough to hold her own in a fight yet!" As soon as the words left his lips, Harry realized his mistake. He heard several girls gasping with outrage from behind him. Harry winced and turned toward Ron. "You little... you set me up!"
Ron smiled and shrugged innocently. "Your turn. Try not to go too easy on her!"
