Snow reminded Kate Beckett of a lot of things.

The warm smells of her mother's baking as they curled up on the couch together, watching the snowflakes paint their breath of the windows. The cold rush of a face full of snow as she flew off her toboggan. As a kid she and her dad used go to the park a couple of blocks away from their house and slide down those hills for hours.

The memory of the time when they were at a crime scene and Castle brought snow cones to share while the examined the body. And then he dropped half of it barely a centimeter from corpse's head causing the ME to go bonkers at them.

Kate smiled to herself as she leant back into the pillows. It was a rare morning off and she didn't feel like getting out of bed. She could see the snowy tops of the buildings outside and was reminded of certain winter shenanigans not too long ago.

"No."

"Yes."

"Definitely not."

"You call yourself a New Yorker! C'mon Central Park is gorgeous in the winter!"

"Becks, it is absolutely freezing outside. I was in surgery all day yesterday, the heater in the break room was broken. And the plane trip wasn't exactly comfortable. I am not leaving this apartment."

"You're not fun." Beckett pouted plopping down onto the other side of the couch.

"You know, there are a lot of fun things we can do inside…" Addison said with a seductive smirk reaching over to run her fingers through the detective's hair.

"No. Don't use sex as a distraction Addie." Kate snipped back getting up and turning to face the redhead.

"You're only in New York this week and I wanted us to go out into the city like we used to!" she exclaimed.

Addie knew there was more meaning behind that then Kate intended. Before the divorce, before Seattle and before LA, Kate and her were inseparable. Whatever spare time they had were out shopping, at the gym, going to a movie or concert, or other certain activities that shouldn't take place in public.

"Honey." Addie murmured standing up and taking her girlfriend's hands in hers.

"I just miss you." Kate whispered holding back tears.

Addison kissed her on the forehead. Then on the cheek, and then proceeded to trail kisses down Kate's neck and across her shoulders.

"Addie!" Kate giggled tipping her head back to give her better access. Instead Addison took held Kate's face in her hands.

"I promise you we will go out tomorrow. But tonight let me look after you. When was the last time you slept properly?"

Kate looked away, Addison barely heard her say before the case.

"Come on." She said taking her hand and leading her to the bedroom.

They snuggled in under the covers together, talking about nothing, failing to keep their hands and lips of each other, just enjoying each other's company.

Kate had never had such a great winter afternoon.

She smiled at the memory. Stretching her arms and letting out a quick yawn she laid her head back down on the pillow. Sleeping in sounded like a good idea. But first she grabbed her phone of the side cabinet and hit speed dial.

There was a special redhead she had to call first.
