Not even in death
The room was dark and quiet. Deafly quiet. At nearly two in the morning everyone was either out doing their thing or sleeping. Leaning back against the head board of her bed she pulled her knees up against her chest, holding them in place tightly. Warm tears rolled freely down her cheeks. Wetting her hair and shirt as they went.
She knew what happened now. She didn't have to accept it any more then she had before she knew and she deffinently didn't have to like it. But he had given himself for her. He'd remembered loving her even after he'd been changed.
"I'll always love you, Rachel." called his voice lightly.
Looking up she could see him. As though he were nothing more then a foggy dream. "Kisten?" she questioned. Her voice sounding scratchy and unused.
Giving a light smile he nodded slowly. "It's me Rachel. In a manner of speaking." he responded.
Losaning her grip on her legs she set up some, "I miss you." she whispered.
"I miss you too." he whispered back. "I'm here to tell you to stop feeling like it's your fult." he added. "I loved… Will always love you. I chose to do what I did to save you."
Crying anew she shook her head, "No, you shouldn't have done that you could still be alive." she argued.
Chuckling he shook his head, "That's why I love you. Willing to sacrifice yourself for me." pausing he moved closer, "A second life would have ment nothing to me without you in it. You only have one life and I'll be damned if I'd let you give it for me."
"I don't care!" she insisted. "Now I don't have you."
"We'll be together again. In time love. Until then I'll watch over you." he eased. "And tell Ivy… we do get our souls back."
"I'll always love you Kisten." she whispered.
"And I'll always love you, Rachel." he whispered as he faded.
As his form dissapeard she took a slow breath and leaned back against her head board. "Kisten." she breathed as she closed her eyes. FIN
