So, I was digging through my own personal little archives today (or rather the big black folder in my study which everyone knows not to touch) and came across this. It's basically a poem which I wrote directly after the CoE finale whilst I was still highly emotional and, like always when I'm emotional, I was inspired to write. Its from Jack's PoV with bits of Janto but could apply to any immortal. I'm kinda thinking of publishing it officially with some of my other poems but I want to see what the general opinion is first... so pretty please read and review! 3
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Torchwood because, if I did, main characters wouldn't die every series and I wouldn't have wrote this.
(umm)CLAIMER?: I would however like to stake all claims to the poem as I quite like it and, if memory serves, it took me ages to write.
The Immortal
An unnatural blessing
Is resolved by the curse.
Shoot me and stab me
As I could still do worse.
I have lived so many lives
And done so many things.
Yet when I am with you
My heart wants to sing.
You make me human.
With you I'm complete.
But when we're in action
You melt at my feet.
The smiles are a mask
That will occasionally crack.
Though to spare your emotions
I plaster it back.
There are so many faces
And all mine are fake.
To delve beneath the surface
Is a grave mistake.
The truth is a misery
So I deceive and lie.
Mortality mocks me
When you die.
Talking's too painful
I hide my despair.
I can't let you in on
What is lurking in there.
I've seen the darkness.
I watch you decay.
It pains me to know
You'll be lost someday.
For decades of crying
I have run out of tears.
But not out of breath.
And so from guilt
I am running
Until there is nothing left.
Review this and I'll be happier than a dalek on speed! MC. x
