Note from me: I know what you're all thinking. "Where did this come from?"
Honestly, I have no clue. I heard an add on the radio one day advertising Wicked coming to my city, and I heard the end of Defying Gravity. Those lovely notes hit by the ever-amazing Idina Menzel inspired me to go to Youtube and watch some videos, and before I knew it, I was hooked to Wicked. I could sympathize with Elphaba in many ways- her story was much like mine. So today, I decided to take on Wicked. Tell me how you like it? It's shorter than I normally do, but still . . .
Pop!
Elphaba Thropp quietly scanned her eyes over the book she was reading on the couch, for once forgetting the complications of her life at Shiz. Her lips formed the sound of a bubble popping as she read, and soon she was so engrossed in her book that she didn't notice Fiyero Tiggular, her best friend's boyfriend walk in and sit down on her bed.
Pop!
Fiyero glanced up at her, but she ignored his deep blue gaze, focusing even harder on her book.
"Will you stop that already?"
Elphaba jumped at the sound of Fiyero's voice, rising quickly.
"Stop what?"
"That poppy thing!" Elphaba raised her eyebrows. She had a feeling about what he was talking about but she decided to enjoy herself a bit.
"What?" she asked innocently, fluttering her eyes.
"Stop popping! You know, um . . ." Fiyero attempted mimicking the sound, but to no avail. Spit came out instead, and Elphaba shook her head.
"Let me get this straight, you come into my dorm unannounced, interrupt my reading, tell me to stop popping or whatever I was doing, and now you spit on me? I have to say, Tiggular, I thought you were better than that."
"I-I- um . . ." Elphaba tried not to burst out laughing. She just rolled her eyes and leaned back, getting back to her book.
Fiyero was mesmerized. Never before had he met a girl with Elphaba's quick wit, or green skin. As he looked at her, he realized that she was, in a way, very beautiful. He decided to talk to her more to try and figure her out.
"So, um, Elphaba . . ." he began clumsily. What was wrong with him? He never had so much trouble talking to girls! It was second nature to him!
"What now?" Elphaba asked, shutting her book, "I stopped, didn't I?"
"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" He saw Elphaba blush a dark maroon, that complimented her gentle green skin.
"Why do you ask?" she replied quietly.
"I dunno. Just curious, I guess."
"Why?"
"I said I don't know!"
"Is that what you say to everything?"
"I don't know!"
Elphaba smirked at him. He just stared back stupidly.
"Hello!" At the cheerful and blissfully ignorant voice of her one and only friend, Elphaba lost control and started to chortle loudly, fully aware of the shocked stares of Fiyero and Galinda. Galinda walked up to Elphaba and slapped her hard in the face, snapping the emerald girl out of her hysteria.
"What the hell happened to you, Elphie?" Elphaba wiped stray tears off her face, still chuckling.
"Oh nothing, Galinda," she snickered, her twinkling eyes meeting Fiyero's.
Quickly averting her gaze, Elphaba stood up to leave the couple. She wasn't fond of watching them cuddle and giggle like idiots. (She didn't have a clue why it bothered her so much)
Not being able to resist, she turned around and popped her lips right at Fiyero before leaving.
Now review or you will have to kiss Madame Morrible! Muahahaha!
