It was a cloudy day. The strong winds did nothing to blow the looming storm clouds away. Not many people were out seeing as there was a storm fast approaching, but one Hatake Kakashi stood in the middle of the clearing he so often frequented. Before him stood the memorial stone, with many of his friends names engraved into the dark marble surface. His eyes travelled over the names one by one, coming to rest on one in particular. "... Sensei..."

I never told you Sensei, that I admired you
The way you took the day in your stride.
The way you smiled so care free.
The way people respected you...
The way you loved...

I never told you how I appreciated your care and dedication to my training.
The way you would correct my mistakes instantly.
The patience you had with my stubbornness.
The way you would watch me...

Kneeling down, he gently stroked a thumb over his Sensei's name. "Minato..."

I never told you how much you meant to me...
For the way you held me close at nights.
The way you comforted me after harsh missions.
The way you would openly talk about your "loved one" whilst looking at me the whole time...

I never told you how much I loved everything about you...
Your soft blond locks that ran though my fingers like silk.
Your tanned skin bathed in the morning light - a stark contrast to my pale hand on your chest.
Your eyes, and how they would crinkle just so when you genuinely laughed... When were alone...
Your smile... that would make me forget the world and remember our world in a heartbeat....

I never told you that I loved you....

Kakashi didn't even bother to stand when he felt a familiar chakra approaching. Nor did he bother looking as the other person entered the clearing with him.

"Ne - Sensei. I thought I'd find you here."

When Kakashi didn't react, the owner of the voice moved closer.

With a deep sigh, Kakashi turned his head to the side to look at the young blond now also kneeling beside him.

"What is it Naruto?"

Kakashi let his eyes travel over his old student - no longer a boy, but a young man. Minato would be proud.

"I just wanted to tell you that I admire you... and... and I appreciate all that you've done for me... You've always been there for me... and... i just wanted to tell you... Thanks..."

Kakashi felt his heart clench, and forgotten tears prick at his eyes. Naruto was truly Minato's son - Caring, loving, strong willed and hearted.

"Sensei? Oi - .... Sensei? W-Why are you crying?"

Shaking his head, he stood up, Naruto following closely. Naruto now stood almost eye to eye with him, and was a strong resemblance to how Minato had looked in his early twenties.

"I..." Kakashi started, his voice soft. "I'm proud of you, Naruto..."

The grin that lit up Naruto's face, and the unshed tears filling his eyes made Kakashi forget his regrets, and remember his important people - past, and present.

"Let's get back Hokage - you're people are waiting for you."

"Y-Yeah!! Let's go!"

Naruto was the first to leave the clearing, Kakashi following right behind. He paused at the edge of the clearing, casting a last glance over the black marble stone.

...........

Sensei, Minato... I....

I know Kakashi... I know...
