Once upon a Reilly time, there lived a young maiden by the name of Miss Kay Bennett. Kay lived in the Bennett manor with her bitter mother, Baroness Bennett, and her sister, Jessica, and jealous cousin, Charity. Kay's father, Sam, who was the reason for the Baroness' bitterness, had skipped the village with his first love, Dutchess Winthrop. Kay's cousin, Charity, had come to live with her aunt when her mother died mysteriously in a fire believed to have been set by an infamous witch.
Kay grew up most of her life happily with her family, and loved her life as it was. But the loss of her father had caused her mother to grow mean and bitter, and with the arrival of her mysterious cousin, Kay was all too soon forgotten. Kay was treated horribly, and had even reached the status of a slave among those in the Bennett home. "Kay! Get your lazy, rear end in this room right away!" the Baroness screamed, standing in the center of her bedroom in a valuable, silky nightgown. Kay wobbled in slowly, carrying with her two buckets of cleaning liquid, and a towel wrapped around her neck. "Yes, Mother?" she asked meekly. The Baroness glared at her and scoffed. "Now just tell me WHY in the world my bed is such a mess? Didn't I tell you to fix it up just right earlier? Don't you understand that your lack of cooperation DOES NOT help in my vast production of tomato soup cakes for the village?" she snapped. Kay set down her buckets and walked over to the bed, wiping her hands on the towel. "Yes, mother. Please forgive me for my inconvenience," she said, fixing the little ruffles on the side of the tomato pillow to her mother's liking.
Jessica and Charity walked into the bedroom after hearing the commotion. Charity grinned when she saw just what Kay was doing. "Just a little slave I tell you! She'll never amount to anything else! She won't!" Charity said in a satisfied tone. Jessica rolled her eyes and walked over to Kay. "Do you need help, sister?" The Baroness turned and scowled at her other daughter. Jessica looked at her mother, and grew frightened, and demanded, "And uh...uh, fix MY pillow's too when you're done with this." She walked away, not wishing to get in her mother's way anymore than she already had. Charity giggled. "And when you're done with Jessica's bed, come to MY bedroom and clean my closet. It's such a mess." Kay sighed, and picked up the buckets. She walked towards the door to head to the kitchen and didn't notice Charity's devious grin. Charity, who had been smiling the whole time, quickly placed her foot out in front of Kay's way, and innocently let out a "whoops" as Kay tripped over and dropped the buckets all over the floor. The Baroness turned and glanced at the mess on her floor. "YOUNG LADY!" she screamed. "Clean that mess up RIGHT NOW, and I better not find one drop of that vile filth anywhere on the floor when I come back!" She angrily stormed out of the bedroom and back down towards the front room. Jessica glanced over to Charity and gave her a disapproving scowl. She quickly stormed out of the room with her mother as well. Charity, blamelessly walked over Kay who was on her knees beginning to clean the mess up, and stepped into the puddle purposely. "You really must watch yourself. You don't want to get on your mother's bad side." She smiled, and skipped out of the room. Kay continued to finish the cleaning, and silently wished that things would change. "I just wish something new could happen. Why can't I ever be happy?" And unbeknownst to Kay...someone did hear...
