StarGazer's and StarChaser's Life

Prologue:

StarGazer sat alone with StarChaser on the MoonRocks. Both toms were silent, grief like a stone in their chest.

"I should have tried harder to save them." It was StarGazer who spoke.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. You did your best." StarChaser mewed gravely. "You tried. I understand. They wouldn't have survived anyway."

"I'm going to sleep," and StarGazer slunk off, leaving StarChaser alone. StarChaser looked up into the starry sky and considered that the only way to help StarGazer forget the tragedy that wracked his mind was to tell it to the newcomers.

"StarGazer, StarChaser, will you tell a story?" A bluish gray tom scrambled up to the two leaders and their deputies. StarGazer looked hesitant, but then mewed, "ok, we will, if you stop butting in on our private conversations," he added playfully. StarChaser sighed. StarGazer was like that, always playful with the cats, hardly ever serious, and, always willing for a game. Unlike him, StarChaser preferred a more serious environment.

"It all started on a black night…" StarGazer mewed spookily. "we were all alone with……dundunduuuuunnnn….." the little blue tom started shaking. Then, StarChaser yowled, "DEATHCLAN!" and made BluePaw jump a fox-tail length toward StarClan. The yowl attracted quite a few stares from around the camp, too. "We were in the clearing by the hollow, surrounded by them." Meowed StarGazer, becoming deadly serious. StarChaser could sense that StarGazer was going to do another loud, obnoxious noise.

"And all of a sudden…..BAM, they attacked us."

GloryPaw had become interested in StarGazer's story, and had come to listen.

"So what did you do?" she asked.

"well, we had to—'' but stargazer got cut off because Silverstone had clawed him, gently, but still, stargazer was riled up. Before they could even start to quarrel, Sunstar had stopped them, and sent them to the fresh-kill pile.
