Disclaimer: I do not own the characters in Vampire Diaries. I just thought it would be nice to write with them because I like them.
Author's Note: This is just a little one-shot based off the song, The Fighter by The Fray. It's off their new album, Scars & Stories. Go pick that up if you haven't. It's amazing and I love The Fray. Anyways, R &R. Much Love.
The Fighter
She held him, like she did before every fight. She looked up at him with her big brown eyes. She tugged on his shirt and begged him not to go. He looked at her, slowly backing away and shaking his head.
He wrapped his gloves and said, "I know I know I know. Just this one last time." He looked at her as if saying you'll still be mine.
She watched him go, knowing he can't promise much. He turns one last time and touches her cheek before going out to the ring.
Elena sat in the crowd, far from the ring but close enough so he could still see him. Doubt was settling in both of them. She watched him swing with all his might. She closes her eyes as he hit in the chest twice. She's in love with him. He is hit again, this time in the jaw. He goes down, and his blue eyes connect with her loving brown ones.
She stands up and calls his name, "DAMON!" She ran down the aisle toward the ring. "Oh god, Damon!"
The paramedics arrived shortly after. Elena held onto Damon. She begged him not to go. She sat in the ambulance and slowly unwrapped his gloves.
She cried and whispered, "I know I know I know." She kissed his trembling lips. She gently touched his fingertips because they both know he won't be coming home.
She cried silently in the hospital for a while before walking out. Loneliness has always been with Elena, maybe she was just meant to be on her own. As the wind blew, she walked the streets, wondering where she would go now.
