The water rippled in the lake as she waited under the tree. The breeze caressing her skin just like he would on their nights together.
"Why are you out here alone love?" he walked out from behind the tree, only visible from the half-moon shining in the sky. He was dressed in his traditional attire, black. Severus Snape reached his hand down to help her from the grass. A shadow of a smile crossed her lips.
"It is awfully chilly out tonight, I would hate for you to get sick." He wrapped his arms around her and she sighed softly in his shirt. The smell of sandalwood and after shave, her favorite smell. He broke the embrace to take her hand and started to lead her to the castle. They walked in a comfortable silence, just listening to the night. The big doors open and he leads her down to the dungeons where their room is.
"wormwood" he says and the door to their quarters open, showing them the darkened living space. He took her past the sofa with years of experience and leads her to their bedroom. He pulls her to the bed and sets her on top of the sheets and then kneels down to take her shoes off. He lays her gently in the bed and pulls the covers up. Kissing her head he says goodnight. Her eyes become heavy and she finds sleep.
The next morning she wakes with a smile and rolls over to face the other side of the bed. Her smile falters and tears start to fall from her eyes.
As she walks on the well-traveled on path, she transforms a couple of blades of grass into tulips. Stopping at the headstone she lovingly traces the familiar words, Severus Snape. No other words were written and with that she placed the tulips on the grave. "I love you forever and always." Walking away Hermione looked back at the grave. She didn't have long with her husband but she cherishes every moment she did get to spend with him and for that she lives for the dreams where he comes and wishes her goodnight.
