Max hadn't expected hysterics, but he'd expected something. I mean, he'd just dropped the biggest news of the century on his mother. Was it too much to ask for her to pay a little attention to him? He'd barely gotten a perfunctory "don't do anything I wouldn't do" before she began questioning Virgil. And not about potential dangers to her only child either.
