Running swiftly through the treetops, Legolas looked down at Aragorn who was running frantically on the ground below.
The young human looked over his shoulder and then up at the elf above him. "Faster," he gasped, chest heaving, "They're practically upon us!"
Legolas leapt nimbly from the treetops and continued running alongside his friend, "How close?"
"Close enough to…"
Suddenly a homemade bolas wrapped itself around the ranger's ankles.
Falling heavily, Aragorn grabbed his hunting knife and began to saw at the thick ropes entangling his legs. Legolas joined him, his long, white knife a blur as he worked.
A rustling in the tree above caught Aragorn's attention. "Look out!" he cried, shoving Legolas away. A heavily weighted net landed on the young human, just barely missing the elf.
Two slim figures dropped from the tree, impish smiles etched on their faces. "You've really done it this time little brother," said one, circling behind Legolas to cut off any chance of escape. The other gave a sharp kick to Aragorn's wrist, knocking away his knife.
Aragorn winced, "Come on Elladan. It was just a harmless joke."
"Just a joke?" replied Elrohir, eyes flashing, "You call filling our beds with dead fish a harmless joke?"
Legolas remained motionless as Elladan took his knife, his face impassive. He knew this would happen should he participate in Aragorn's prank, and he was not going to bail out on his friend now.
Elladan smiled as they tied the two friends' hands behind their backs, "I don't see why you go along with his games, Legolas. Don't you see they always land you in trouble? And yet you still help him."
Legolas just smiled and winked at Aragorn, "What you say is truth, but isn't that what friends are for? As the old saying goes 'Friends are there to lend a hand, and stick with you through tough times. To get you into trouble, and to help you get back out of it'."
Elrohir moaned and clasped his hands to his ears, "Please say no more. IT KILLS!"
Aragorn grinned, "Now it is not only Ada who says it, but Legolas as well. Just your luck. Legolas, I think you should continue using Ada's sayings."
Legolas laughed, "I think I might just do that."
"After we're done with you I think there will be little to laugh about," Elladan said with a frown. This revenge was not at all going how they planned.
