1
The
summoner and her guardians were standing on the deck of the airship.
High Summoner Yuna performed the sending on the departed souls of the
aeons, of Sin and of Yu Yevon.
She and her guardians had survived the final confrontation with Sin. They were the only ones, after a thousand years, who had defeated Sin without losing the summoner and the summoner's guardians. Yuna had finally brought the Eternal Calm.
Everyone was rejoicing as the pyreflies floated up to the dark night sky, beautifully illuminating it…except for one.
The young man from Zanarkand, Tidus, looked at his arms with a solemn expression. They turned into some greenish liquid and quickly reverted back to their original form. He was supposed to be celebrating but he can't.
"It's finally time." He whispered to himself. It was finally time for him to dissolve and simply disappear, together with the other dreams that Yu Yevon had summoned.
He looked at Yuna, who looked back. She seemed to got the message, and slowly shook her head.
"No." She said slowly. Tidus closed his eyes. He didn't want to see his dear Yuna cry.
"But Yuna…I have to go." He responded to her, assuringly. Yuna looked at him, and firmly shook her head. He knew it was against her wishes, but he needed to go. He was forced to go.
"Everyone..." Tidus drew in a deep breath. "This is---this is goodbye."
Yuna ran to him, only to pass through Tidus. He was just an illusion now, but he still seemed to be real. The young summoner fell down on the floor of the deck, a single tear running down her eye. She stood up with her back facing Tidus.
"Thank you." She said softly. Tidus looked at her then walked to her. He wrapped his warm, sunkissed arms around her. Mysteriously, the arms didn't pass through Yuna, who felt the warmth of her lover for probably the last time. She cherished the final moment they can possibly have together.
Tidus slowly walked through her then ran towards the edge of the airship, where he leaped down, leaving Yuna and her other guardians behind.
Yuna simply looked down, crying. He promise that he'll always be at her side…but he broke his promise.
