Why was I outside? More importantly, why was I outside in the freezing cold, in some random New York park, when I could be inside, in my comfortable apartment, warm.

"Pookie, get up off that bench and come here."

It all suddenly become clear, Maureen, of course, was why I was outside. Maureen and her insistence we didn't miss experiencing the first snow of the season. Maureen and my utter inability to say no to her, I really needed to work on that. Did I mention it was freezing.

"Pookie… Joanne, come on."

With a sigh I stood, shoving my hands into my trench coat pockets, and made my way over to her. I figured if I was going to die from hypothermia I might as well enjoy the last few minutes I had left.

"Kiss me, it's beginning to snow." She said softly as she wrapped her arms around my waist pulling me close.

I looked at her for a moment, taking in her pink nose and emerald eyes that glistened with a few tears from the cold. With a laugh and a small shake of my head I leaned in, our lips met…and I was warm.
