Rin has seen a lot of strange things. Hell, he was carrying a talking cat with horns in his pocket. Kinda makes you wanna take a double-take.
But these humans video games? Little figures on a huge black box? That fight? He kept expecting to get punched by what Mephisto explained was "2D pixellated game characters", like that meant anything to Rin. He knew fighting. Until 2 days ago, the only human things he'd seen were swords and guns.
Eventually he gave up trying to play.
"At least you don't try to eat my controllers," Mephisto muttered gleefully. "Amaimon always does that."
"When does class start?" Rin asked, jumping over to the balcony and staring striaght into the sunset. They didn't have those in Gehenna.
"Tomorrow. Hide your tail, tell them your last name's Okumura, and don't do that jumping thing. That's bad. And don't freak out. Going flame is not going to make the exorcists happy." Mephisto ticked these off his fingers, then fixed Rin with a stare. "And defend my students. No matter what happens, that group of exwires is to be safe. You understand?"
"Yes, Mephisto." Rin said distractedly.

Rin still didn't understand human expressions yet. That one on the other Okumura's face: was it disgust? Pity? Or horror? Nobody bothered explaining anything.
He catalogued every student's looks. The kid in the hood was annoying, because he couldn't see their face.
Boy with a pink mohawk, boy with entire head full of pink hair (was it a trend?), boy with almost-shaved head and glasses.
Girl with bushy eyebrows and long pigtails, girl with short hair next to bushy-brows, boy with a puppet, kid in a hoodie. All this was catalogued in less than a second, then he sat down.
These classes are boring, he thought, already falling asleep.

He knew he was being tested. An infestation of hobgoblins? If he killed them all, the students would be safe, right? But if he showed his flame, Mephisto would get mad and he'd have to go back to Gehenna.
Everything was made a bit easier when the teacher kicked everyone out. When Rin was looked at expectantly, he kicked the door shut with his foot. He didn't even glance at the teacher's expression (shocked? Suffocating?) before sliding his sword out of it's sheath and decimating the hobgoblins' population.
"Um, Rin?" The teacher choked out. "Care to explain that?"
